Australia's fast bowler Riley Meredith has officially joined Somerset for their Vitality Blast campaign, committing to the club until at least the quarter-final stage of the competition. The 27-year-old pacer will also be available for the Metro Bank One-Day Cup group stages, along with a "managed number" of Vitality County Championship matches. Glamorgan has secured the services of the talented 24-year-old leg-spinner Peter Hatzoglou on a short-term T20 contract.  Hatzoglou's impressive record of 42 wickets in 40 T20 matches makes him a valuable addition to the team.  Initially, the 24-year-old will be available for three matches, providing cover for fellow Australian player Michael Neser, whose absence in the Blast's opening four games is due to his commitment to the Australian training camp, where he is preparing for the upcoming World Test Championship and the Ashes series. Hatzoglou was playing for Buckhurst Hill in club cricket when Glamorgan approached him. While the Australian may not be a direct replacement for the pace-bowling allrounder Michael Neser, he has already made a name for himself in his career.  Glamorgan fans can look forward to witnessing Hatzoglou in action during the upcoming matches against Somerset on May 28, Middlesex on May 31, and Kent on June 2.

Australian middle-order batsman Peter Handscomb has signed with the English county team Leicestershire for the first two months of their upcoming campaign.  The 31-year-old Victorian batsman has scored 145 runs at an average of 29 during the recent Indian series. He will be standing in for Indian batsman Ajinkya Rahane, who will not be available due to his commitment to the 16th edition of Indian Premier League with the Chennai Super Kings.  Handscomb is well-acquainted with English conditions, having previously played for several English county teams such as Durham, Gloucestershire, Middlesex, and Yorkshire.

Derbyshire have announced that wicketkeeper-batsman Brooke Guest has signed a two-year contract extension with the club, keeping him at The Incora County Ground until the 2025 season. The 25-year-old was ever-present for Derbyshire during the 2022 season, contributing more than 1,000 runs in all formats, as well as claiming 72 dismissals behind the wickets. Since his debut for Derbyshire in 2020, the right-handed batter has scored 2,177 runs, including five centuries and seven half-centuries. Sussex allrounder Delray Rawlins has extended his contract. The 25-year-old, who helped the Sharks reach the Royal London Cup semi-finals in 2022, has played 104 times for the club since his debut in 2017. "Obviously I have been here my entire professional career and I am looking forward to building on the good things we did this summer," the all-rounder said. "This year I worked on certain aspects of my game, and I am pleased with the progress made so hopefully I can go again next year and produce bigger numbers for the team." Northamptonshire have signed the Australian batsman Chris Lynn for the T20 Blast this season. The 32-year-old, who has established a reputation as one of the hardest hitters in the T20 format, has never previously played in the county cricket. "I have always wanted to play county cricket and I'm really looking forward to joining up with Northamptonshire for the Vitality Blast," said Lynn. "The UK is a great place to play, and I am hopeful that I can contribute with some good performances and also try to entertain the Steelback fans this summer." Lynn joins NZ allrounder Jimmy Neesham as Northamptonshire's second overseas player for the competition.

Yorkshire have announced the signing of Sri Lanka left-handed batsman Dimuth Karunaratne. The 33-year-old has joined the county outfit for the next three Championship matches. He will debut on Thursday against Northamptonshire at Wantage Road. The Lankan skipper will also play games against Kent at Headingley and Essex at Chelmsford. Karunaratne has scored 5,620 runs in 76 Tests for Sri Lanka. Warwickshire have announced the signing of West Indies fast bowler Chemar Holder for the rest of the County Championship season. The 23-year-old is likely to make his debut at Lancashire on 30 August. Warwickshire seamer Craig Miles has signed a two-year contract extension to keep him at Edgbaston until at least the end of the 2023 season. The 26-year-old has claimed 31 wickets in 11 first-class matches since joining the Bears in 2019. He scored 61 runs and took 10 wickets at an average of 25.5 in three appearances during the LV= Insurance County Championship this season. Miles made his first-class debut for Gloucestershire in 2011 and has since gone on to claim 286 wickets, with a further 69 wickets in white-ball cricket. Nottinghamshire have announced the signing of South Africa's Dane Paterson for the 2021 season. The 31-year-old seamer, who will be a part of Notts as an overseas player, has featured in four ODIs and eight T20Is for the Proteas. The right-armer has claimed 355 wickets across 103 First-Class fixtures since his debut in 2009. Nottinghamshire had earlier announced that Australia's Dan Christian will lead the T20 side this summer.

Hampshire allrounder Ian Holland has signed a new contract that will keep him at The Ageas Bowl until at least the end of next season. The USA international moved to The Ageas Bowl in 2017 from Victoria and has since gone on to score 1,146 runs and claim 63 wickets across all three formats. Nottinghamshire seamer Jake Ball has signed a new two-year contract with the county, that promises to keep him at Trent Bridge until the end of the 2023 season. The 29-year-old Englishman, who has played four Tests, 18 ODIs and two Twenty20s for England, has spent his entire county career with Notts. He also played seven matches for Sydney Sixers in the recent Big Bash League in Australia. Glamorgan vice-captain David Lloyd has committed his future to the County club after signing a new two-year contract that promises to keep him at Sophia Gardens until 2023. The 28-year-old batsman has spent his entire professional career at South Wales, playing 168 matches across all formats. “I’m really happy to be signing a new deal at Glamorgan,” said the allrounder. “Being Welsh and playing for the only Welsh first-class county is something I’m very proud of, and to have been capped and captain Glamorgan was something I could only dream about. Warwickshire have confirmed England Under-19s batsman Dan Mousley has penned a new three-year contract until 2023. The 19-year-old, who made his County Championship debut for the Bears in July 2019, is now tied to Edgbaston until at least the end of 2023. "Dan is one of the most exciting young batsmen in the county game," said Bears director of cricket Paul Farbrace. "He broke through to the senior ranks in both formats last season and made a notable contribution in each fixture. "He now has a great opportunity to firmly establish himself across all three formats and become a mainstay of this Warwickshire team for many years." Northamptonshire Cricket County Club have announced the signing of Afghanistan allrounder Mohammad Nabi for the 2021 edition of the T20 Blast. The 35-year-old has impressive numbers under his belt in the shortest format of the game.  The middle-order Afghan has featured in 78 T20 Internationals for his nation, scoring 1347 runs at an average of over 22 and strike rate of 145.3. Nottinghamshire pacer Zak Chappell has extended his contract at the county until the conclusion of 2022 season.  The 24-year-old, who joined the club in the winter of 2018, took 15 scalps in the 2020 Bob Willis Trophy. “Last season was a big one for me – I feel like I found my rhythm and my confidence early on, and everything just snowballed from there,” the seamer  said . “I believe I’m a much better bowler for the work that Pete (Peter Moores) and Shiney (Kevin Shine) did with me over last winter, so I’m really excited to see how I can push forward again over this close-season. Yorkshire right​-arm spinner Jack Shutt has committed himself to the White Rose after signing a new one-year contract extension that will keep him at the club until at least the end of 2021. The 23-year-old all-rounder said: “I’m very pleased. I’ve played a little bit of first team cricket now and I feel like I’ve learnt a lot. I know what the level is that I need to get to, and hopefully I can improve my game going forward so that I can do well at that level. “The only way that you can learn is by playing and being around players of that quality, so hopefully this summer will really stand me in good stead going forward.” The youngster made his first-class debut against Durham last term and since gone on to play in three of the fixtures. Derbyshire pacer Ben Aitchison has committed his future to the club after signing a new two-year contract that promises to keep him at The IncoraTM County Ground until the 2022 season. Aitchison, 21, initially joined Derbyshire on a rookie contract for the 2020 campaign and established himself on his first-class debut against Nottinghamshire, with 3-55 in the second innings. The youngster said , “When I first joined the club, I talked about wanting to take any opportunities I was given, and I feel like I did well when I was selected this season. “I love the setup here, and get on really well with the lads, so It’s really nice to know I’ll be able to grow and develop with them over the next two seasons.” Aitchison claimed 47 wickets at an average of 12.23 in 17 matches for Macquarie University Cricket Club in Sydney. The Yorkshire CCC have released left-arm spinner James Logan following the end of his contract at Emerald Headingley. The 22-year-old, who made his debut against Worcestershire in 2018, has played just two first-class matches for the White Rose but was inactive in 2020. Logan said : “I’ve really enjoyed my time at Yorkshire and would like to thank all the coaches who have worked with me since I started at the age of 11, and the players who I’ve shared a dressing room with."
