Nottinghamshire have announced the signing of South Africa's Dane Paterson for the 2021 season. The 31-year-old seamer, who will be a part of Notts as an overseas player, has featured in four ODIs and eight T20Is for the Proteas. The right-armer has claimed 355 wickets across 103 First-Class fixtures since his debut in 2009. Nottinghamshire had earlier announced that Australia's Dan Christian will lead the T20 side this summer.

Cricket South Africa have announced new captains for the team in all three formats and ODI, T20I and Test. Dean Elgar has been awarded Test captaincy. Temba Bavuma to lead the Proteas in the limited-overs formats. “We are grateful to Quinton for the work he has put in as captain of the team in the limited-overs formats and are indebted to him for stepping up while the National Selection Panel continued its search for the Test captain. Australia’s upcoming Test tour of South Africa has been postponed due to the new strain of the coronavirus virus in the host country. Australia was supposed to depart for South Africa in late February for the three-match Test series against the Proteas, which was due to start on March 3, but Cricket Australia (CA) postpone the tour keeping public health in mind. CA's interim CEO, Nick Hockley said: "Due to the public health situation in South Africa, which includes a second wave and new variant of the virus, and following extensive due diligence with medical experts, it has become clear that travelling from Australia to South Africa at this current time poses an unacceptable level of health and safety risk to our players, support staff and the community. "We acknowledge the significant amount of work by CSA in planning for the tour, during which we made it clear that CA was prepared to take on additional cost and effort to make the series happen. South African veteran legspinner Imran Tahir has pulled out of the Big Bash League due to personal reasons. The Melbourne Renegades have suffered another blow with after the 41-year-old spin bowler withdrawing from the ongoing tournament for personal reasons. The Renegades coach Michael Klinger expressed his disappointment with the unavailability of Pakistani-born South African cricketer. “He’s a great player so it is a loss. The last few years have been ones to forget for South African cricket fans as the once-mighty Proteas have been reduced to a withered version of themselves after facing what seems like an eternal winter of frost. Melbourne Renegades have confirmed the arrival of two overseas players Imran Tahir and Noor Ahmad for the 10th edition of the Big Bash League (BBL). South African leg-spinner Tahir, who claimed 236 wickets in 145 ODI and T20I matches - will be available after Christmas. His absence will be filled by Afghanistan left-armer Noor Ahmad. South African left-handed batsman JP Duminy has decided to retire from first-class and List A cricket. The all-rounder represented the Cobras in South Africa’s domestic cricket league and the news was confirmed by the team head-coach, Ashwell Prince on Friday.  In his List A career, Duminy has scored 7,408 runs with an average of 38.78. Whereas in T20 cricket he scored 6,106 runs in 252 matches, which makes him the highest run-scorer for the Proteas of the game. Duminy, however, will continue to ply his trade in the shortest format of the game across the globe. The 35-year-old has represented the Proteas in 46 Tests, 194 ODIs and 81 T20Is. South African all-rounder Albie Morkel has brought his 19-year glittering career to an end after the hard-hitting batsman announced his retirement from all forms of cricket, on Wednesday. The 37-year-old, who made his ODI debut against New Zealand in 2004 - has played a single test, 58 ODIs and 50 Twenty20 matches for the Proteas. He has a vast of T20 experience, having played for Chennai Super Kings, Delhi Daredevils, Rising Pune Supergiants and Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Indian Premier League. Morkel also had spells in county cricket with Derbyshire, Durham and Somerset.

Essex County Cricket Club have announced the signing of South African batsman Cameron Delport for the 2019 and 2020 T20 Blast seasons. Delport, 29, will join the Eagles for a two-year spell starting from July 1 and will be available for the finals day at Edgbaston on September 21 - should the county club advance that far into the competition. "I'm so happy to be joining Essex. The club has such an amazing history and tradition so I'm proud to be given the opportunity to get involved," the batsman told the county's website . "There is a strong squad at Chelmsford and I hope to play my part in getting the Eagles to Finals Day come September. I can't wait to get started."
