Australia all-rounder Shane Watson has announced his retirement from T20 cricket after the three-time champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) thrashed Kings XI Punjab in their last league match of IPL 2020.  The 39-year-old was a bit on and off feature of the MS Dhoni-led CSK squad in the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The Aussie star has played 11 games in the ongoing IPL season and scored 299 runs with an average of 29.90. 

Australian all-rounder Shane Watson will consider on his international cricket future at the end of the ICC World T20 being held in India. The 34-year-old admitted that he was "pleasantly surprised" when he was selected for T20I side to take on India in January after he was overlooked for the five-match ODI series.  "There's no doubt I'll have a bit of time to think about it (international retirement) after the T20 World Cup. I'll reassess from there," he told cricket.com.au on Wednesday.  But for now, the world No. 1 all-rounder in Twenty 20 International has a bright opportunity ahead by winning the World T20 trophy that has eluded Australia.  "There's no doubt to win the T20 World Cup, we came very close in 2010 making the final, so that certainly would be an incredible thing to be a part of," he added.  "At this point in time I'm still just living the dream with the cricket that I'm able to ...

The Former Test cricketers Shane Watson, Mike Hussey and Brad Haddin are among the 23 Australians in the run for the 2016 Caribbean Premier League Twenty20 player draft next week. Australia’s all-rounder Shane Watson has been ruled out of the Zimbabwe tour due to an ankle injury, Cricket Australia said on Saturday. Watson picked up the injury after stepping on a ball during training session on Saturday. The 33-year-old will be replaced by top-order batsman Phillip Hughes in the 14-man squad. Australian batsman Shane Watson is ready to play the first Ashes 2013-14 Test against England , with cleared of his serious injury. The 32-year-old all-rounder had picked up a left hamstring strain during Australia's recent tour of India, and it had been reported that he could miss the first Ashes Test at Brisbane starting on November 21. But Physiotherapist Alex Kountouris said, Watson would be ready and he describes the injury as "a low-grade muscle strain". "He will have intense treatment and rehabilitation in Sydney over the coming days and just how well he responds to this will determine how quickly he can resume full training and match preparation," he said. "It goes without saying that Shane and the medical team will be doing everything possible to get him fit and available for selection ahead of the first Test. "We'll be assessing him on a daily basis and expect to have a clearer picture of his progress later in the week....

Australia opener Shane Watson was wondered to score a century in Canberra. Watson's scored 122 to a series victory against West Indies. Watson said after the game, " I was starting to worry a little bit that I might not have enough form going into the Indian series. But it's nice to be able to spend some time in the middle today and bat for a longer period of time to feel like I'm back again a bit. It's nice to be able to feel like you've got it still. "

Shane Watson has been ruled out of Test against South Africa due to a calf injury. The Victoria batsman Rob Quiney will replace him. Mickey Arthur  said in an statement, " Shane Watson won't play the first Test match. He did an assessment this morning. We've ruled him out."

According to the Business Review Weekly magazine , cricket has now emerged to the list of Top 50 Sports Earners of 2011. Shane watson is at 11th place in the rich list of Australian sports persons by earning USD 4 million. Watson earned USD 1.8 million in IPL, playing for Rajasthan Royals . He is one of the few players to play Test matches, ODI and T20 cricket.

Shaun Marsh has been ruled out from the first  test against india starting from 26 December at Melbourne as he is yet to recover from his lower back injury and Shane Watson has been recalled to assess his fitness.

Australia's aggressive opener David Warner has been selected in the test team for series against New Zealand. Warner replaces all-rounder ShaneWatson . Mitchell Johnson , Patrick Cummins, Ryan Harris and Shaun Marsh have been ruled out from the test series due to injury. Australia's new fast bowling attack James Pattinson, Ben Cutting and Mitchell Starc have been included in the team. South Africa's former all-rounder Lance Klusener said that Australia's Shane Watson played well with the bat and ball both. According to the Klusener, Shane Watson is currently the best all-rounder.

International Cricket Council ( ICC ) Twenty-20 world champion England is in the number one team in T20 ranking, while England's batsman Eoin Morgan is the number 1 in batting rating, Sri Lankan spinner Ajantha Mendis is the top bowler and Shane Watson of Australia is the top all-rounder. England has 127 points and Sri Lanka with 126 points. If England win the Twenty-20 match against India on October 29 at Eden gardens then England would get four points, if England lose the match then they will slipped down from Sri Lanka. New Zealand (117) Thirdly, South Africa (113) the fourth, India (112) fifth and Australia (111) is in the sixth place. Pakistan (97) in seventh followed by West Indies, Afghanistan and Zimbabwe.

Shane Warne took the decision to retire after the current IPL season 4 , but the Rajasthan Royals team-mate Shane Watson believes that the 41-year-old spinner, still can make the difference in international cricket.
