Ricky Ponting is reportedly close to signing a deal with Punjab Kings ahead of IPL 2025, as per Cricbuzz. Having recently parted ways with Delhi Capitals, where he served as head coach for seven seasons, Ponting is expected to bring a wealth of experience and tactical expertise to Punjab. During his tenure with Delhi, Ponting guided the franchise to three consecutive playoff appearances from 2019 to 2021, including their first-ever IPL final in 2020.  However, recent struggles led to his departure earlier this year. Punjab Kings, eager to revamp their team after several lacklustre seasons, are eyeing Ponting as the potential game-changer they need. The former Australia captain Ricky Ponting will retire from all forms of cricket in October. The 38-year-old is currently playing in county cricket for Surrey . " While I'm enjoying my cricket as much as ever, it just feels like the right time to finish playing ," Ponting told the Daily Mail. " My body and mind are in great shape and I know I'm going to really enjoy these last few months before the next stage of life begins. " "I'm excited about what lies ahead. We are moving to Melbourne, which will be like a new beginning as a family leading a more normal life. I'll be able to spend more time with family and friends, play a lot more golf and see more of North Melbourne footy games. "Rianna and I will continue to build the work of the Ponting Foundation and, with more time on my hands, I'm intending on spending more time with children with cancer and their families."

Former Australian captain Ricky Ponting will become the first international player to be participate in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL). The CPL will begin on July 29 to August 26. Six franchise countries will be involved in CPL: Antigua & Barbuda, Barbados, Guyana, Jamaica, St. Lucia and Trinidad & Tobago.
