Former South African all-rounder Jacques Kallis has been appointed the head coach of Kolkata Knight Riders for the ninth edition of the Indian Premier League, starting next year. The 40-year-old succeeds the current England coach Trevor Bayliss, who was managing KKR for four years. Kallis said: ”KKR is my family in India and the association since 2011 has been one of the most enjoyable experiences for me. I look forward to the new challenge and feel honoured to be part of the KKR family"  The 6 ft 2 in allrounder made his IPL debut with the Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2008, before moving to Shahrukh Khan co-owned franchise KKR in 2011 and had taken up the role of a mentor and batting consultant last year. Kallis helped KKR lift two titles as a player.

After a stellar stint with IPL champions Kolkata Knight Riders , Kallis will be looking to use the Big Bash League as a stepping stone for his 2015 World Cup selection.

South Africa's greatest all-rounder Jacques Kallis has insisted to retire from Test cricket after the second and final test match against India at Durban, staring on Boxing Day. However, the 28-year-old has insisted that he will be available for the 2015 World Cup. Kallis said, " It wasn't an easy decision, with Australia around the corner and the success this team is enjoying, but I feel the time is right. I don't see it as goodbye, I still have a lot of hunger to push South Africa to that World Cup in 2015 if I am fit and performing. The last two years specifically have been a memorable journey with an exceptional group of cricketers. I am fortunate enough to have ended my Test career amongst a group of talented cricketers but, more importantly, friends whom I will cherish for years to come." Kallis made his Test debut in December 1995 against England, since then he has played 165 Tests with 44 centuries and 58 half-centuries at an average of 55.12.

South Africa's Right-handed batsman Jacques Kallis stated that he is ready to take on Pakistan in first Test at Abu Dhabi (UAE). After a three-month break from cricket The 37-year-old is all set to face pakistan in first test starting from monday. " After 17-18 years I needed a good three months away so it's been a pleasurable period where I could refresh my mind and get a little niggle sorted out, " Kallis said on Sunday. " I am hitting the ball as well as I have ever hit and probably playing the best cricket of my life. From that point of view, it's been two weeks of good work, " said Kallis.

Sri Lankan Experienced batsman Mahela Jayawardene became first batsman of his team and ninth batsman in the world to score 10,000 runs in Test Cricket history. 34-year-old batsman, Jayawardene achieved 10,000 runs milestone on the first day of the second Test against South Africa in Durban on Monday. Captain of the Kolkata night riders Gautam Gambhir will not play Champions League T20 qualifying matches on 18 and 21 September due to his injury in England tour. The Director of night riders Joy Bhattacharya said South African allrounder Jacques Kallis will replace Gambhir captaincy.
