The International Cricket Council (ICC) have announced its Test and ODI Teams of the Year.   The Englishman Alastair Cook has been named as captain of the Test Team, which includes four England players, three Australians, and a player each from New Zealand, India, Sri Lanka and South Africa. The International Cricket Council has revealed the names of eight teams, who will be participating in the Champions Trophy 2017. Australia, India, South Africa, New Zealand, Sri Lanka, England, Bangladesh and Pakistan are the eight teams that have been confirmed by the ICC based on their current ODI rankings. England cricketer Alex Hales has been ranked as the number-one Twenty20 batsman by the International Cricket Council . The rankings were updated after England's victory against Australia in August. Nottinghamshire's Hales hit 94 off 61 balls, helping England to a 27-run victory that levelled the two match series at 1-1. The International Cricket Council (ICC) announced, England and Wales will host the 2017 World Test Championship. The ICC confirmed that the new competition will replace the 50-over Champions Trophy. " The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) will host the inaugural event in June/July 2017, while the second edition will be held in India in February/March 2021, " an ICC statement read. "The ICC Champions Trophy in England and Wales was highly acclaimed and appreciated by all," ICC Chief Executive David Richardson said. "However, the principle of one pinnacle global event for each of the three formats over a four-year cycle is a good one and, as such, the ICC Board has agreed to replace the Champions Trophy with the ICC World Test Championship. "Now that the ICC World Test Championship has been confirmed, we'll work on the playing conditions and qualification criteria, and will submit these to the ICC Board for approval in due course." ...

Former New Zealand Cricket chief, Alan Isaac elected as the president of the International Cricket Council for a two-year term at the ICC Annual Conference. The 60-year-old Isaac, is the eighth president of the ICC.

Pakistani fast bowler Mohammad Amir has been released from jail after serving half of a six-month sentence.
