Hampshire have announced the signing of South Africa batsman Hashim Amla as an overseas player for the first three months of the English County season. The 34-year-old, who has had several previous county stints with Essex, Nottinghamshire, Surrey and Derbyshire, and will be available for the County Championship and the One-Day competition. The prolific Proteas star will join compatriots Kyle Abbott and Rilee Rossouw before returning to country's duty for their Test series against Sri Lanka in July. Hampshire’s Director of Cricket Giles White, said : ‘Hashim is an exciting acquisition for us and we feel he’ll be an excellent fit within the group we’ve got, both on and off the pitch. ‘He will add strength and depth to our batting for the first three months of the season when runs on the board are important. Derbyshire have announced the signing of South Africa captain Hashim Amla on a short-term deal. The 31-year-old, who has scored 6757 runs in 82 Tests for South Africa at an average of 52.78 - will play three T20 Blast fixtures and two County Championship matches as a replacement for Martin Guptill, who has been called up for New Zealand’s Test squad for next month's tour of England. "I'm delighted to have the opportunity to play in England this summer, " the veteran batsman told the club's official website .  "Derbyshire are an ambitious club with an exciting young team and I've enjoyed working with Graeme [Welch, Elite Performance Director] before. Surrey have announced the signing of the South Africa batsman Hashim Amla for the final six championship games. Amla to replace his national team-mate JP Duminy, who will be play in the Champions League T20 to be held in India during September. Johannesburg, Tuesday, October 4, 2011 Hashim Amla has been selected as the captain of the South African team in ODI and T20 series against Australia. Amla got the team command due to the fractured finger injury of Captain AB de Villiers , that is not available for the entire series. Amla has been assigned captain for two Twenty20 and three ODI matches against Australia. 38-year-old Amla has so far played only three Twenty-20 internationals. Wicketkeeper batsman Mark Boucher returns to the one-day squad, while 23-year-old batsman Richard levy is the only new face in the T20 squad.
