Australia's fast bowler Riley Meredith has officially joined Somerset for their Vitality Blast campaign, committing to the club until at least the quarter-final stage of the competition. The 27-year-old pacer will also be available for the Metro Bank One-Day Cup group stages, along with a "managed number" of Vitality County Championship matches. Expressing his enthusiasm for the stint, the seamer stated, "I'm looking forward to the challenge of playing in English conditions and I can't wait to get started. Somerset have announced the signing of former England wicketkeeper Steve Davies, that will keep him at the County Ground, Taunton until 2019. The 30-year-old, who played for his nation five years ago, has only 13 limited-overs caps and has scored more than 10,000 first-class after starting a career at Worcestershire. Davies said : "I have made no secret of my desire to play for England again and I hope that a new challenge, along with a return to wicketkeeping, will help kick my career on to the next level. Former Australia batsman Chris Rogers has joined Somerset after signing a one-year contract at the County Ground in Taunton. The thirty-eight-year-old, who recently announced his retirement from an international cricket at the end of the Ashes series 2015 in England, will be joining his fifth county club - having previously played for Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Northamptonshire and Middlesex. The former Western Australia batsman has scored 24,460 runs at an average of 49.81 in 297 first-class matches till date.   "I'm really pleased to be joining a club of the stature of Somerset,” he told the club's official website . England and Somerset wicket-keeper Craig Kieswetter has took retirement from all forms of cricket with an immediate effect due to a serious eye injury, sustained last summer. The 27-year-old gloveman suffered an injury to his eye through his helmet grille when a ball hit him while batting in a County Championship match against Northants in July 2014. The South-African born cricketer has played 46 ODIs and 25 Twenty20 internationals for England, but was never played at Test level. Somerset have re-signed the services of Pakistani spinner Abdur Rehman as their overseas player for the 2015 season. The 34-year-old returns to Taunton after enjoyed a successful spell with Somerset in 2012, took 27 wickets at 14.18 in four Championship matches in 2012. The slow left-armer told the club website : "I am very happy to be going back to play for Somerset. I hugely enjoyed my time at the County Ground two years ago and I look forward to playing for the county again.” Rehman has claimed 99 wickets in 22 Test matches for Pakistan since his debut against South Africa. He has also played in 31 ODIs and 8 Twenty20 internationals for his country.

Lancashire have signed England's right-handed batsman-wicketkeeper Jos Buttler from Somerset . The 23-year-old, Buttler leave Somerset to pursue more opportunities as a wicketkeeper-batsman at Lancashire. As a wicketkeeper the first choice of Somerset is Craig Kieswetter and with lesser opportunities on his way, Buttler made a swoop to Lancashire. Buttler said  " They have a strong squad and are very ambitious to build on this season's achievement. The club has an exceptional coaching staff which will help me to continue to develop as a keeper batsman. " Buttler made made ODI debut in February 2012 and has played 19 games since then. In just 25 T20Is, Buttler has scored 286 runs.

A wicket-keeper batsman Craig Kieswetter has been ruled out for six weeks due to a broken thumb injury in Somerset's County Championship match against Warwickshire. He sustained the injury to his right thumb during the final day in last ball before lunch. Dave Nosworthy, Somerset's director of cricket said: " Obviously this is very disappointing for us at this stage of the campaign and it is also very disappointing for Craig. "This was a freak accident and with him in such good form and in a good frame of mind with the bat and gloves, it has come at a bad time. However, he goes about things in a very professional way and with a good rehabilitation programme already planned we will have him back as soon as possible. "

West Indies star batsman Chris Gayle has agreed to play for Somerset in the domestic Twenty20 league if he is available. At present, Gayle plays for Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Indian Premier League (IPL). " He's openly saying he would offer Somerset first refusal on his services in the shorter format, " Somerset chairman Andy Nash was quoted as saying by BBC.

South Africa batsman Alviro Petersen has signed Somerset for the first half of the 2013 English season. The 31-year-old, Petersen told to Somerset's website: " Somerset are a successful team in all forms of cricket and I look forward to becoming part of the set-up at the County Ground, and hope that I can help them to win some trophies in 2013 ." In his career, He has played 16 Tests and 17 ODI's.

Somerset has sign Irish allrounder Kevin O'Brien to play Friends Life T20 matches, South Africa's Richard Levi and Albie Morkel are the other overseas players that are playing for Somerset. Brian Rose , The director of Somerset said, " Kevin is a very attractive batsman who can score his runs very quickly and will add to our already exciting batting line up. "

Somerset signed South Africa batsman Richard Levi for their domestic English county Twenty20 campaign. Levi has create the record for the fastest century in Twenty 20 international smashing 117 not out in just 51 balls against New Zealand. Currently, Levi is playing in the Indian Premier League for  Mumbai Indians and will join Somerset soon at the conclusion of the campaign.

The Somerset captain, Marcus Trescothick , will out for a minimum of six or seven weeks from cricket due to the injury he sustained match against Nottinghamshire in the County Championship. Trescothick will undergo surgery of his right ankle. In the absence of Marcus Trescothick, James Hildreth will captain Somerset.

Former Australia captain Ricky Ponting rejected to play county cricket as he bids to play Ashes series in England in 2013. Ponting's manager James Henderson refused the reports from his Twitter account to linked with Somerset . Henderson said " Ricky is not turning his back on playing county cricket in the future but the 2012 season does not line up with his current priorities. Malinga took 10 wickets in 6 matches in the tournament. Though, Caribbean team Trinidad Tobago fast bowler Ravi Rampaul took 12 wickets and his own team-mate Sunil Narayan took 10 wickets but these total wickets are including the qualifier matches. The former India Test spinner Murali Kartik will delay to take a decision on his Somerset future untill the end of the season – when he will take into consideration both his physical condition & his family. Broad is surviving from the heel and knee injuries. Broad already battling poor form, hence the team's confidence will be a huge setback.
