Big Bash League Semi-Final Preview

The Perth Scorchers were named minor premiers once again after topping the ladder courtesy of a four-wicket victory over the Adelaide Strikers. It was the perfect way to say farewell to the WACA and it set up a tantalising semi-final clash with the Hobart Hurricanes. George Bailey’s men defied the odds to finish fourth in the ladder, and the Strikers became another surprise package by finishing second. They were widely written off after losing key men ahead of BBL7, but Rashid Khan has been absolutely sensational and they deserve their place in the semi-finals. BBL: Afghanistan spinner Rashid Khan joins Adelaide Strikers

Adelaide Strikers have announced the signing of Afghanistan spin sensation Rashid Khan for the seventh edition of the Australia's domestic T20 Big Bash League. Rashid becomes the first Afghan cricketer to be played in Australia's domestic T20 league and the second overseas player for Strikers. "I am very happy to have signed with the Strikers for the BBL," the 18-year-old leg-spinner said . "It is a huge honour to be a part of such a great tournament and even more of an honour to be the first Afghanistan player to participate on the BBL stage. I look forward to linking up with my Strikers teammates and backroom staff." Jayawardene joins Big Bash League with the Adelaide Strikers

Former Sri Lankan Test skipper Mahela Jayawardene has joined the Adelaide Strikers on a one-year deal for this year’s Big Bash League (BBL) campaign. The 38-year-old veteran, who scored 11,814 runs at an average of 49.84 in 149 Tests, will replace West Indian Kieron Pollard, who has been sidelined with a knee injury. "Mahela is a champion of the game and is without a doubt one of the greatest batsman to play cricket in the modern era," Strikers coach Jason Gillespie said . "Having played against him myself, I'm fully aware of the type of damage he can do, so it'll be exciting to have him on our side this time." Brad Young signs Adelaide Strikers

A left-arm orthodox spinner, Brad Young has joined the Big Bash League after signing the Adelaide Strikers . Young played six ODI's for Australia in between 1998 to 1999. Young said, " I played when Australia were the No. 1 side in the world, I look back with fond memories and hopefully there are a few more over the next few weeks, I have a wiser head on my shoulders. I do feel ready, shed a few kilos, the ball is coming out well and I am just trying to get up to speed on the fielding and batting. "

Saeed Ajmal Signs Adelaide Strikers

Pakistan's spinner Saeed Ajmal has signed Adelaide Strikers for the upcoming KFC Twenty20 Big Bash League . Ajmal said, " I am really excited about playing for the Adelaide Strikers and really happy that I will get the chance to show my talent in the BBL. " The coach, Darren Berry was delighted to have signed Ajmal for Adelaide Strikers, " We know what this guy is capable of, having seen him run through both the Australian and English batsmen a couple of months ago, so to have him on board is a great result for the Strikers, " Berry said. They have also signed Tim Ludeman and Cameron Boyce.
