Big Bash League - Ajantha Mendis signs Sydney Thunder

Sri Lanka spinner Ajantha Mendis has committed himself by signing a deal with Sydney Thunder for Big Bash League .  The 28-year-old will join his fellow team player Tillakaratne Dilshan , who joined them last month . Mendis, who also plays for Pune Warriors in Indian Premier League , said: "I have watched the success of the BBL and to have a chance to play in it and test myself against some of the best players in the world is extremely exciting.” Sydney Thunder coach Chandika Hathurusinghe and the former Sri Lanka batsman has expressed his happiness to have Mendis to Squad. "The signing of Ajantha is a major boost for the Thunder because he provides both experience and an element of mystery to the bowling line-up,"  Hathurusinghe said.  Mendis, who has an excellent career in Twenty20 format, played 85 Twenty20s with an average of 17.71 with 117 wickets and an economy rate of 6.56. Sri Lanka Squad for tours by Pakistan and India

Ajantha Mendis and Dilhara Fernando have been selected in the 30-man provisional squad for the upcoming tours by India and Pakistan. Since from the tour of South Africa last year, Both Mendis and Fernando did not played for Sri Lanka. Fixtures: In June-July, Pakistan to play a series of two T20Is, five ODIs and three Tests. India to play five ODIs and one T20, starting from July 22. Sri Lanka squad against South Africa tour

Ajantha Mendis has been involved in 16-member test squad for the South Africa tour in December. Fast bowler Dilhara Fernando has also been included in the test squad. He played his last test against England in June. Sri Lanka will play three-Test series against South Africa in Centurion starting from December 15 Test squad : Tillakaratne Dilshan (captain), Tharanga Paranavitana, Angelo Mathews (vice-captain), Mahela Jayawardene, Kumar Sangakkara, Kaushal Silva (wicketkeeper), Dinesh Chandimal, Dimuth Karunaratne, Dilhara Fernando, Lahiru Thirimanne, Nuwan Pradeep, Chanaka Welegedara, Thisara Perera, Suranga Lakmal, Ajantha Mendis and Rangana Herath

England is number 1 in Twenty-20 Rankings

International Cricket Council ( ICC ) Twenty-20 world champion England is in the number one team in T20 ranking, while England's batsman Eoin Morgan is the number 1 in batting rating, Sri Lankan spinner Ajantha Mendis is the top bowler and Shane Watson of Australia is the top all-rounder. England has 127 points and Sri Lanka with 126 points. If England win the Twenty-20 match against India on October 29 at Eden gardens then England would get four points, if England lose the match then they will slipped down from Sri Lanka. New Zealand (117) Thirdly, South Africa (113) the fourth, India (112) fifth and Australia (111) is in the sixth place. Pakistan (97) in seventh followed by West Indies, Afghanistan and Zimbabwe.
