Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have announced the signing of England’s batsman Jason Roy for IPL 2023.  The 32-year-old had previously played for the team in the 2017 and 2018 seasons. The Knight Riders have acquired him for INR 2.8 crore, which is above his base price of INR 1.5 crore. KKR have lost two of their star players. Shreyas Iyer, who was meant to lead the team, has been sidelined from the tournament due to a lower back injury. Meanwhile, Shakib Al Hasan has pulled out due to personal reasons.  But in the midst of all this turmoil, KKR have made an exciting acquisition by bringing in Jason Roy. Pakistan will host 7 T20Is and 3 Test matches, starting from September 20.  Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) have confirmed the schedule for their three-match Test series against England in December.  The first test will begin in Rawalpindi on December 1 and then move to Multan for the second Test. England all-rounder Ben Stokes has decided to hang up his boots from ODI cricket. The 31-year-old will bid farewell to the 50-over format after the opening match of the ODI leg against South Africa on Tuesday at his home ground – the Riverside. The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) have named Matthew Mott as England's new white-ball coach. The 48-year-old joins the set-up following his successful stint in charge of the Australian women’s team. Under his tenure, the Australian women team won the ODI World Cup in New Zealand before winning back-to-back T20 World Cups and four consecutive Ashes series. Mott, who has previously coached in the county cricket with Glamorgan, has signed a four-year contract to lead the current 50-over world champions. Mott's first series will be a three-match ODI tour of the Netherlands starting on 17 June. The T20 World Cup 2022 begins in Australia in October while England will fight for their 50-over world cup title in India next year.

The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) have announced the 13-member England squad for the first two Tests against New Zealand, starting on June 02 at Lords in London. Under the leadership of Ben Stokes (captain), England has recalled James Anderson and Stuart Broad to the red-ball outfit.  Chris Woakes, Jofra Archer, Sam Curran, Mark Wood and Saqib Mahmood have not been included due to their respective injuries. Former England all-rounder Tim Bresnan has announced his retirement from all forms of cricket on Monday. He last represented England during an ODI match against Ireland in 2015. The 36-year-old played 142 international games for England, including 23 Tests, 85 ODIs and 34 T20Is.  The Pontefract-born cricketer, who made his Test debut against West Indies at Lord's in 2009, has played a pivotal role in the Ashes victory in Australia in 2010-11. During his first-class career, Bresnan has scored 7,138 runs and took 575 wickets with seven centuries and nine five-wicket hauls.

England captain Eoin Morgan will be sidelined for the fourth and fifth match of the T20 series after suffering a minor right thigh-muscle injury. The Irishman has suffered a minor right thigh-muscle injury which will keep him out for the remaining matches of the T20 international series against the West Indies. The 35-year-old was forced to miss the 20-run defeat to the hosts on Wednesday after having pain in the pre-match warm-up. The allrounder Moeen Ali will lead the side in Morgan's absence and is likely to retain the role for the rest of the series this weekend.

The Ashes 2021-22 is slated to begin on December 08. The Brisbane Cricket Ground, known as the Gabba, will host the opening Test of the five-match series. In what could be a huge blow for England in their pursuit of T20 World Cup trophy, all-rounder Ben Stokes might miss the upcoming edition of the T20 World Cup in the UAE after the 30-year-old took an indefinite break from international cricket to take care of his mental well-being. He was set to take part in the Indian Premier League this year, representing Rajasthan Royals, but the talismanic all-rounder pulled out earlier. Stokes is also not a part of the ongoing five-match Test series against India. The T20 World Cup is slated to begin on October 17th few days after the conclusion of the IPL and Stokes’ availability in the tournament is still under the clouds.

Nottinghamshire seamer Jake Ball has signed a new two-year contract with the county, that promises to keep him at Trent Bridge until the end of the 2023 season. The 29-year-old Englishman, who has played four Tests, 18 ODIs and two Twenty20s for England, has spent his entire county career with Notts. He also played seven matches for Sydney Sixers in the recent Big Bash League in Australia. England to play two Test match series in Sri Lanka at the beginning of 2021. The series was scheduled to take place in March 2020, which was called off in wake of the COVID-19 outbreak. The two Tests match series will be held behind the closed doors, and both matches will be played at Galle International Stadium in Colombo. The last time England travelled to Sri Lanka two years ago when Joe Root had led the side to a 3-0 whitewash under tough conditions.
