Pakistan seamer Umar Gul retires at the age of 36

Pakistan pacer Umar Gul has announced his retirement from all forms of cricket. The 36-year-old bowler, who was the leading wicket-taker at both the 2007 and 2009 World Twenty20 tournaments, has played 47 Test matches, 130 ODIs and 60 T20I for Pakistan between 2003 and 2016. "It has been an honour to represent my club, city, province and country at various levels for two decades," said the seamer. "I have thoroughly enjoyed my cricket, which has taught me the values of hard work, respect, commitment and determination. "During this journey, I have had the pleasure of meeting numerous people who have helped and supported me in some way. Pakistan’s Umar Gul considers retirement from Test cricket

Pakistan fast bowler Umar Gul is considering to take retirement from Test cricket due to his knee injury. Gul, 30, who picked up the injury during Pakistan’s tour of South Africa in March 2013. Since then he hasn't featured in team’s Test squad since last after undergoing a knee surgery in May 2013 . “Right now, I don’t know what lies ahead for me because I am still not comfortable with the knee,” espncricinfo.com quotes Gul as saying. “I am hoping to make a comeback in the Tests against Australia but if that doesn’t happen I could quit Tests”, he added. The Peshawar-born seamer has claimed 163 wickets in 47 Test appearances at an average of 34.

Umar Gul to miss Champions Trophy

Pakistan fast bowler Umar Gul , has been ruled out for the Champions Trophy due to an injury on his right knee. He sustained the injury during last month just after the Centurion ODI against South Africa and since then he has been sidelined. He will board to Melbourne in May for surgery. " Gul complained of right knee pain during the recently concluded one-day series against South Africa ," a PCB spokesman confirmed. "He was rested for the last two one-dayers for imminent damage to his medial meniscus and bone of the right knee. A later MRI scan confirmed a full thickness tear of the posterior horn of medial meniscus with patchy bone bruising on his right knee."
