Younis Khan resigned as Pakistan's batting coach on Tuesday (June 22) with immediate effect. The 43-year-old had a two-year contract with the PCB which would have ended after the conclusion of T20 World in 2022.  The announcement was followed by speculation that the former skipper himself had decided to step down from the position as he was not happy with his role. He began his coaching stint with the tour of New Zealand in 2020-21. Pakistan will now travel to their overseas tours of England and the West Indies without a batting coach. The team will be in England for three ODIs and three T20Is, while the West Indies tour is slated to begin on July 21 where the teams will play five T20Is and two Tests.

Pakistan batsman Younis Khan has revealed his retirement plans after playing his 100th test match in Colombo last week. The 37-year-old right-handed batsman becomes the fourth Pakistani cricketer to playing 100th test match for his country, which makes him at the top among other players at that point of career. He expressed his desire to achieve more than this and have certain goals, which he wants to complete before announcing his retirement from Test cricket. Younis said in an interview : “I believe I still have a lot to achieve and there is a lot to do in life. But I managed to get to 100 Tests, which is a big honour. A country like Pakistan, where the number of matches is fewer compared to other parts of the world, even Javed Miandad took about 18 years to play 124. For me it has taken 15 years to get to 100”. Pakistan batsman Younis Khan has dismissed reports that he is going to retire from one-day international cricket. The 37-year-old has claimed that a tweet from a supposedly official Younis profile is a "fake" Twitter account, that was contemplating retirement. He told AFP as quoted by the Indian Express ,  "I have no Twitter account and it's (the story about his retirement) fake." The senior Pakistan batsman, Younis Khan has been left out of a 30-man squad for the Champions Trophy to be held in June. In addition, Allrounder Abdul Razzaq is ignored by the national selectors. Younis Khan has been dropped from a 16-man squad for a three one-day match series against Australia, in the United Arab Emirates. The 1st ODI will be played on August 28 in Sharjah, Second ODI will be played on August 31 in Abu Dhabi and last odi again in Sharjah on September 3. There will be three Twenty20s internationals against Australia on September 5, 7 and 10 all in Dubai.
