Zimbabwe will host Australia and Pakistan for a T20 tri-series starting this July. The hosts opted not to play any Tests against the two heavyweights sides, even though Aussies were scheduled to play one Test, while Pakistan were supposed to face Zimbabwe in a two-Test series. Zimbabwe will be hosting the series after failing to qualify for the 2019 World Cup. “Playing two of the game’s biggest teams will provide us with a very welcome litmus test as we forge ahead with our plans to develop a stronger Zimbabwe side capable of consistently competing and winning against the best,” Zimbabwe Cricket’s managing director Faisal Hasnain was quoted as saying by ESPNcricinfo .

The Pakistan Cricket Board have announced their 13-man squad for the one-off Twenty20 International match against England at Old Trafford on September 7. The wicketkeeper Sarfraz Ahmed will lead the squad, while the right-handed batsman Mohammad Rizwan has earned a recall after missing out on the World T20 earlier this year. Two uncapped players in the sharp of Babar Azam and Ammad Butt could make their T20I debuts in Manchester, while the pacer Sohail Tanvir returns to the squad for the first time since November 2015. Cricket Australia have announced that Australian batsman George Bailey has quit the national Twenty20 captaincy in order to regain his Test place and to focus on the preparation of next year's World Cup. The 32-year-old has also made himself unavailable for the upcoming tour of the UAE for T20’s against Pakistan and at home three T20s against South Africa in November. The right-handed batsman announced his decision today in order to concentrate to improve his chances of playing more Test cricket. The Tasmanian, who led the Aussie in 27 games and won 13. The revamped T20 started last night, with Sussex ’s chase down against Surrey the pick of the night’s matches. As for last night, Sussex managed to hit consecutive boundaries with the last two balls to claim an unlikely win over Surrey. Jason Roy and Gary Wilson both hit 50’s as Surrey posted an imposing 171-7 from their 20 overs. Luke Wright smashed 56 in the reply, however when he was bowled by Thomas Curren, Sussex at 107-4 were behind the required run rate. Things got worse for the hosts when Kevin O’Brien claimed two wickets in two balls, meaning Sussex were 111-6! The 28-year-old Bopara who plays for Essex in English County , has not played a Test since 2012, though he is a part of England's limited-overs teams.
