Dolphins have re-signed West Indies batsman Chris Gayle for South Africa 's T20 competition. Gayle has signed for R1 million in the 2011-12 season, but he left with an injury, not appeared in a single match. Gayle said, " I am really excited to have joined the Sunfoil Dolphins for their 2014 Ram Slam T20 campaign. I feel there's some unfinished business for me as I didn't get to play for them back in 2012 due to injury. They've got a great list of players so hopefully we'll be in contention at the business end of the tournament.  I'm very much looking forward to working with Lance Klusener and the rest of the guys. " Recently, Dolphins had signed English cricketer Graham Onions for the whole season. Dolphins was second from bottom in the last season of the Ram Slam T20 Challenge, with only two wins in 10 matches.

Shaun Tait, Australian fast bowler will play for Dolphins , the Durban based franchise in Pro20 domestic Twenty20 competition. The 28-year-old, Tait retired from Tests and ODIs, but he represented in IPL for Rajasthan Royals. Tait said " Having played last year in Durban during the Champions Trophy, I know that I am really looking forward to getting back and bowling at a ground that definitely suits me ". " I am genuinely excited to be given this opportunity and am looking forward to playing my part with the Dolphins in seeing them taste success ". Jesse Chellan , The CEO of Kwa-Zulu Natal Cricket Union (KZNCU) and Dolphins is quite delighted to have Shaun for the Pro20 competition. Tait also has a contract in KFC T20 Big Bash League for the Melbourne Renegades.
