The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has imposed a two-year ban on international spinner Asif Afridi from all cricket activities after the 36-year-old admitted to committing two offences under the PCB’s Anti-Corruption Code for Participants. The offences in question could result in a ban for life, however, the PCB stated that they considered his confession, the extent of his remorse, and his prior record before reaching their decision. Although Asif hasn't represented Pakistan in international cricket, he was included in the T20I and ODI teams for Australia's tour of Pakistan in the previous year. Asif is from Peshawar and has participated in 35 first-class, 45 List A, and 65 T20 matches to date.

Pakistan Cricket Board have announced their T20I tri-series schedule, starting on 7 October against Bangladesh and New Zealand on the following day. The number-three ranked Pakistan will travel to New Zealand from 7-14 October as part of their ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Australia 2022 preparations. In the second round of matches, Babar Azam's side will play Black Caps and Bangladesh on 11 and 13 October, with the final scheduled for 14 October. Pakistan have announced their Test squad for the upcoming two-match Test series against Sri Lanka. The tour will be a part of the ICC Men’s World Test Championship Cycle (WTC) 2021- 2023. The first test will be played at the Galle International Cricket Stadium from July 16 to 20, while the second Test will get underway on July 24 at the R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium in Colombo. Bangladesh have announced the 16-man squad for the 1st Test against Pakistan which will get underway on November 26 in Chattogram. Mominul Haque will lead the side. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has confirmed that Pakistan will host Australia in March 2022. The multi-format tour is slated to begin on March 03 and continue till April 05.  The tour will have three-match Test series followed by as many ODIs and a solitary T20 International. Younis Khan resigned as Pakistan's batting coach on Tuesday (June 22) with immediate effect. The 43-year-old had a two-year contract with the PCB which would have ended after the conclusion of T20 World in 2022.  The announcement was followed by speculation that the former skipper himself had decided to step down from the position as he was not happy with his role. He began his coaching stint with the tour of New Zealand in 2020-21. Pakistan will now travel to their overseas tours of England and the West Indies without a batting coach. The team will be in England for three ODIs and three T20Is, while the West Indies tour is slated to begin on July 21 where the teams will play five T20Is and two Tests.

Former Pakistan seamer Mohammad Amir is ready to make his debut in the latest edition of the Caribbean Premier League, starting from August 28. The 29-year-old announced his retirement from international cricket in December last year, owing to his feud with Pakistan’s team management. The veteran speedster continues to feature in the various T20 leagues across the globe. He will now be available in the Caribbean Premier League as the left-arm pacer has been signed by Barbados Tridents for the ninth edition that kicks off in St Kitts & Nevis in August 2021.  Amir has claimed 59 wickets in 50 T20I for Pakistan.

Pakistan registered a record win over South Africa in the first Test at Karachi's National Stadium.  Left-arm spinner Nauman Ali bagged a five-wicket haul in an innings on Test debut. Pakistan allrounder Imad Wasim has joined Melbourne Renegades for the second half of the 10the edition of Big Bash League. The 31-year-old will join the Renegades from Boxing Day onwards after the completion of T20I series between Pakistan and New Zealand in New Zealand.  "Imad is one of the best T20 players in the world with his ability to impact games with the ball and to finish the innings with the bat," Renegades coach Michael Klinger said . Melbourne Stars have announced the signing of fast bowler Dilbar Hussain for the 10th edition of the Big Bash League. The 27-year-old, who hails from Pakistan, will be available for the entire campaign, starting on 10 December. Hussain played for the Lahore Qalandars in the Pakistan Super League alongside Stars wicket-keeper batsman Ben Dunk. “I’m very happy to be coming back to the Melbourne Stars for the Big Bash,” Hussain said . “In the short time I was with the club last season I learnt so much. Pakistan limited-overs captain Babar Azam has emerged as the No.1 favourites to replace Azhar Ali as Test skipper, according to the reports by Cricket Pakistan. Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Ehsan Mani had a meeting with Azam about the leadership role. Mani reportedly assured the 26-year-old batsman that he would have “full authority as leading the Test team” besides already being the limited-overs captain. The wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Rizwan and opener Shan Masood are the other two contenders in the mix for the Test captaincy. The PCB will announce a final decision ahead of the tour to New Zealand later this year.

Pakistan pacer Umar Gul has announced his retirement from all forms of cricket. The 36-year-old bowler, who was the leading wicket-taker at both the 2007 and 2009 World Twenty20 tournaments, has played 47 Test matches, 130 ODIs and 60 T20I for Pakistan between 2003 and 2016. "It has been an honour to represent my club, city, province and country at various levels for two decades," said the seamer. "I have thoroughly enjoyed my cricket, which has taught me the values of hard work, respect, commitment and determination.
