West Indies allrounder Dwayne Smith retires from international cricket

West Indies allrounder Dwayne Smith confirmed his retirement from international cricket on Wednesday. The 33-year-old, who is currently playing for Islamabad United in the ongoing Pakistan Super League, has announced the decision before the qualifying final game between Islamabad United and Karachi Kings at Sharjah. Smith was part of two World Cup squads in 2007 and 2015, where his last appearance for the national team came against UAE in Napier at the 2015 World Cup. He made his international debut during the tour of South Africa 2003-04, in Cape Town in January 2004. The Caribbean batsman scored 1560 runs at a strike rate of 92.69 in 105 ODIs. He also claimed 61 wickets in ODIs. Smith has been a well known cricketer on the T20 format, over the last couple of years, turning out to play in the Indian Premier League, the Caribbean Premier League, the Bangladesh Premier League and now the Pakistan Super League, as well as the NatWest Blast in England.

"I'm going to come and give it my best and hopefully we can see plenty of sixes when it is my turn to play for the Sixers," Smith said . Smith has played 20 Tests, 91 ODIs and 29 T20s for his country. He has a wealth of Twenty20 experience - played in Indian Premier League for Chennai Super Kings, Deccan Chargers and Mumbai Indians and in English County cricket for Sussex.

BBL - Dwayne Smith signs Perth Scorchers

West Indies all-rounder Dwayne Smith has signed Perth Scorchers . He became the second international player for the Scorchers after South African bowler Alfonso Thomas in Big Bash League . The 30-year-old, Smith said: "I'm really happy to have signed with the Perth Scorchers. Perth is a beautiful city, so hopefully I can experience a bit of what it has to offer in between the cricket." Right-handed batsman, who has also featured in County Cricket for Sussex and in Indian Premier League for Mumbai Indians. He was a part of New South Wales in 2009-10 season of BBL. Dwayne Smith re-signed Sussex for T20

West Indies allrounder Dwayne Smith has been re-signed by Sussex for the Friends Life t20 . Smith help Sussex to victory in the 2009 Twenty20 Cup final by hitting 59 from 26 balls. Smith, 30, is currently playing for Mumbai Indians in the IPL -6. " I'm very happy to be joining Sussex again, " Smith said. " I can't wait to get back to my second home and the lovely crowd at Hove. " Sussex's professional cricket manager, Mark Robinson , said: " Dwayne has the ability to win games by himself with the bat, he is a more-than-useful bowler and he is one of the best fielders ever to have been seen at Hove. He is immensely popular with the players, the members and the sponsors and everybody is excited about his return. " The first match of Friends Life t20 2013 will be played at Ageas Bowl, Southampton, between Hampshire and Surrey on 26 June 2013.
