Australian opener David Warner has completed 8,000 runs in Test cricket, becoming the eighth Aussie to do so. The 36-year-old accomplished this milestone during the second Test against South Africa at the MCG, which also happens to be his 100th Test. The star batter hit his 25th Test hundred. Before this, the right-hander had hit his previous Test century on January 3, 2020 against New Zealand. Warner currently has scored 8,042 Test runs at an average of 46.21 in 183 innings in 100 Tests.

Former Australian captain Steve Smith and former vice-captain David Warner re-joined the national cricket team for the first time since they were suspended for their roles in a ball-tampering scandal in South Africa last March. Magellan Financial Group - a major sponsor of Cricket Australia has terminated a three-year deal after a ball-tampering scandal continues. The deal estimated at $20 million when it was signed in August 2017, with the company having naming rights sponsorship of domestic Test matches just one summer into the three-year deal. David Warner was the mastermind behind the scandal which has seen him, skipper Steve Smith and Cameron Bancroft hit with long-term bans. Sports apparel maker Asics Corp had also terminated sponsorship contracts with both Warner and Bancroft. Australian Test opener David Warner has announced he will not be playing in the Big Bash League this season, due to hectic international summer schedule. The 27-year-old, who was a part of the Sydney Thunder last year, has declared he wouldn't be signing any contract with BBL this year, starts December 18 at Adelaide. " It was obviously a really hard decision because I love playing in the Big Bash, " Warner said .
