Two-year ban imposed on Asif Afridi for anti-corruption misconduct

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has imposed a two-year ban on international spinner Asif Afridi from all cricket activities after the 36-year-old admitted to committing two offences under the PCB’s Anti-Corruption Code for Participants. The offences in question could result in a ban for life, however, the PCB stated that they considered his confession, the extent of his remorse, and his prior record before reaching their decision. Although Asif hasn't represented Pakistan in international cricket, he was included in the T20I and ODI teams for Australia's tour of Pakistan in the previous year. Asif is from Peshawar and has participated in 35 first-class, 45 List A, and 65 T20 matches to date.

Umar Akmal's Three-year ban

Pakistan batsman Umar Akmal has been banned for a period of three years from all forms of cricket on corruption charges the country’s cricket board on Monday. His last appearance for the national side was against Sri Lanka in October 2019. Akmal has played 16 Tests, 121 ODIs and 84 T20s for Pakistan.

Sreesanth gets life ban

India's fast bowler Sreesanth has been handed a life ban by the BCCI for spotfixing during IPL 2013 . Sreesanth tweeted just after the news of his ban, "surprising". "Been tracking the news channels... Me getting a life ban??!! Very surprising," he said.
