India vs England: James Anderson to miss first Test

England skipper Alastair Cook has confirmed that James Anderson will not be playing in the first Test in India as he struggles to recover from a shoulder injury. Due to a stress fracture in Anderson’s left shoulder right shoulder, the seamer also forced himself out of the current series in Bangladesh. The 34-year-old recently stated that he was hopeful of returning back to action in India, but he is unlikely to be part of the opening Test to be played in Rajkot on November 9. Anderson sustained the injury against Sri Lanka earlier this summer, and has not featured since August because of a stress fracture. He made his Test debut in 2003, and has claimed 463 wickets, makes him the England's leading wicket-taker.

James Anderson claims 300th Test wicket

England fast bowler James Anderson claimed his 300th Test wicket during the second day of the first Test against New Zealand at Lord's on Friday. Anderson in his first over dismissed the opener batsman Hamish Rutherford caught by Alastair Cook at first slip. Anderson, 30, became the fourth Englad cricketer to take 300 Test wickets, The first three are Ian Botham, Bob Willis and Fred Trueman. " He's in the 300 club and I fully expect him to go on and make the 400 club, " Botham said in commentary for Sky Sports. "It's great for Jimmy but there's a lot more to come. He's got loads more cricket in him, he's exceptional. "Magnificent effort from him, he's developed skills, these are things you have to work on."

England Twenty20 and ODI squad against India

Fast bowler James Anderson and batsman Jonathan Trott has been ruled out from the ODI series against India in January and replaced them with Chris Woakes and Jos Buttler. ECB said in a statement, " Woakes and Buttler replace Anderson and Trott in the India ODI squad as the selectors look to manage workloads. James Anderson signs new deal with Lancashire

England fast bowler James Anderson has signed a new two-year contract with Lancashire . The 30-year-old Anderson, made his Lancashire debut in 2002. Anderson said, " I always love coming back to play for the club when my England duties permit me to and I'm delighted to sign for another two years. "

James Anderson back in T20 series

England recalls James Anderson as a replacement for Steven Finn , who has a stiff back for the three-match series against South Africa . Although, the 30-year-old fast bowler is not in England's squad for the World Twenty20 .

James Anderson wins England's cricketer of the year at a ceremony at Lord's on Monday. In the ICC's Test rankings, Anderson currently holds the number three ranked bowler.

Kohli, Gambhir, Raina won CEAT rating award

India's middle order batsman Suresh Raina and Virat Kohli won the Ceat International Youngster of the Year 2011 and T20 Player of the Year awards on Saturday. Left handed opener batsman Gautam Gambhir won the Match-Winning Innings of the Year for his brilliant 97 runs against Sri Lanka on April 2, in the World Cup final at Wankhede Stadium . England batsman Jonathan Trott won two awards, international cricketer of the year and batsman of the year award. James Anderson won International Bowler of the Year award. Indian explosive batsman Virender sehwag and VVS Laxman both were honored with special award for their huge contribution to Indian cricket and for completing 10 years in international cricket. West Indies former fast bowler Courtney Walsh won the Lifetime Achievement Award for the 2010-11 season. All nine players receive the awards worth Rs 5lakh each and a trophy.

Steyn becomes 20th bowler to reach 900 ranking points

South African fast bowler Dale Steyn has become the 20th bowler to break the 900 ranking points in the ICC test bowling rankings after won the first test against Australia on Friday claiming six wickets. Steyn started the Cape Town test with 899 points and in the first innings he took 4 wickets and in the second inning took 2 wickets. Steyn is the second bowler of South Africa to reach at this achievement, the first one is Shaun Pollock . 900 or more ratings points shows that the bowler is truly outstanding, Steyn has got 902 points and holding the number one slot in the test bowling rankings. Steyn said " It is very special for me to join the 900-point club. There are a lot of world-class players in that region and it is an honor to be in their company. " England fast bowler James Anderson has 2nd position in test rankings trails him by 91 ratings points, and his team mate Morne Morkel is in third position which is 126 ratings points behind Dale Steyn.
