England ODI captain Alastair Cook will lead the England team for the ICC World Cup 2015, which starts in February next year, according to The Daily Mail . The 29-year-old’s position as captain came under scrutiny after loosing the recent home ODI series against India. Cook has captained in 63 ODIs for his country - scoring 3,085 runs at an average of 37.62. England to visit Sri Lanka for a seven ODI match series in November before heading to Australia for a tri-series that includes India before the 2015 World Cup.

Cricket Australia have announced that Australian batsman George Bailey has quit the national Twenty20 captaincy in order to regain his Test place and to focus on the preparation of next year's World Cup. The 32-year-old has also made himself unavailable for the upcoming tour of the UAE for T20’s against Pakistan and at home three T20s against South Africa in November. The right-handed batsman announced his decision today in order to concentrate to improve his chances of playing more Test cricket. The Tasmanian, who led the Aussie in 27 games and won 13. He has played 28 Twenty20s for his country, scoring 470 runs at 26.11 average. South Africa ’s test skipper, Graeme Smith is all set to retire from international cricket after the end of the final Test against Australia in Cape Town.   The 33-year-old left handed batsman has played 33 Twenty20 internationals, 197 one-day internationals and currently playing his 117th Test match with total 9262 runs an average of 48.49. Smith said in an interview after the third day's play at Newlands, "This has been the most difficult decision I have ever had to make in my life. It's a decision that I have been considering since my ankle surgery in April last year. I have a young family to consider, and I felt that retiring at Newlands would be the best way to end it because I have called this place home since I was 18 years-old." During his captaincy, South Africa became the No.1 Test side in ICC’s rankings in 2012. However, Smith still continue to play for Surrey in County Cricket .

Mahela Jayawardene has withdrawn his name from Sri Lanka's Twenty20 captain after loosing the final of the T20 World against West Indies in Colombo. He stated he will remain captain for the ODI and Test teams and available for Twenty20 selection. Jayawardene, 35, said: " I had a chat to the selectors before this tournament started. I was going to step down from T20 captaincy after this World Cup, I personally feel that for Sri Lanka going forward we need a younger leader. It's a great opportunity for somebody to start in that T20 format. I've spoken to the selectors and they were quite happy with that choice. "

Misbah-ul-Haq , Pakistan skipper has said that he has no intentions of stepping down as captaincy and he wants to lead the team in every formats of the game, including the Twenty20 World Cup in Sri Lanka later on this year. Misbah said, " I don't want to confine myself to only playing Test matches. I know I am good enough for all three formats and I am looking forward to leading Pakistan in Twenty20 World Cup. " Misbah comments over IPL , " It is a big event and there is quality cricket being played in the IPL. Every player wants to be part of the IPL. Unfortunately we are not part of it but that is not our fault and neither can we do anything about it. But definitely we would love the opportunity to play in the IPL and show our calibre to the world. "

Former Australia captain Ricky Ponting has no intention of ending his Test career and he is looking forward to taking on South Africa later in this year. Ponting stated that his “ love for the game and passion and desire to play and be successful hasn't changed. I've still got a few things I want to achieve and a few games of cricket I want to be a part of and win for Australia. As long as I feel I can play a role winning games of cricket for Australia I'll continue to do it. I'm enjoying it as much as ever and probably working harder than ever on my game. ”

West Indies all-rounder Dwayne Bravo has been appointed the vice-captain for the first three ODI against Australia. Bravo said " I am happy to be named vice captain. Former Australian Captain Ricky Ponting said that after seeing his performance in the current ODI series against Sri Lanka, He stopped thinking for retirement from international cricket. After winning the second ODI match against Sri Lanka from eight wickets, Ponting said " I scored 90 runs not out and I got a man of the match. I think my game has been improved after quitting the captaincy and so far I performed well against Sri Lanka.
