CPL - Pomersbach in for Chanderpaul

Due to contractual obligations with Derbyshire (English county), West Indies middle order batsman Shivnarine Chanderpaul will not be able to play in the first ever Caribbean Premier League (CPL). " I am extremely sorry that I will not be able to participate in the CPL because of contractual obligations ," said Chanderpaul. " I would definitely like to make myself available for the next edition, and will have my contracts carry a clause that will permit me to play in future editions of T20 tournaments ." Aussie batsman Luke Pomersbach to replace Chanderpaul and will soon join St Lucia. "I am excited about this new opportunity and really looking forward to playing in the Caribbean for St. Lucia, " Pomersbach said. " It will be great to be a part of this first CPL and I am looking forward to some tough competitive cricket with some of the greatest T20 cricketers in the world. " The CPL begins from July 30 in Barbados.

Chanderpaul Signs Derbyshire

West Indies Left-handed batsman Shivnarine Chanderpaul , has joined English county side Derbyshire on a two-year contract. Currently Chanderpaul rated the world's number two Test batsman. He has scored over 10,500 runs in just 146 Tests at an average of 51.67 and has previously played for Durham, Lancashire and Warwickshire in the English County Championship. " I'm excited to be joining an ambitious club with a talented young side, " Chanderpaul told the Derbyshire website. " I was impressed with (head coach) Karl Krikken's vision for the team and am looking forward to linking up with them at the start of the season. "

West Indies Test squad for New Zealand

West Indies explosive batsman Chris Gayle has been named for the first Test against New Zealand starting on Wednesday. Gayle played his last Test cricket in December 2010 in Sri Lanka. Shivnarine Chanderpaul has also made the comeback in the 13-man squad. West Indies Test squad : Darren Sammy (Capt.), Kieran Powell, Assad Fudadin, Chris Gayle, Adrian Barath, Marlon Samuels, Narsingh Deonarine, Shivnarine Chanderpaul, Denesh Ramdin, Kemar Roach, Ravi Rampaul, Tino Best, Sunil Narine.

Shivnarine Chanderpaul joins 10,000 club

West indies batsman, Shivnarine Chanderpaul has become the 10th batsman to pass 10,000 runs in Test matches. He reached the milestone on the third Test against Australia in Dominica at Windsor Park.
