BBL 2020: Melbourne Renegades sign Imran Tahir, Noor Ahmad

Melbourne Renegades have confirmed the arrival of two overseas players Imran Tahir and Noor Ahmad for the 10th edition of the Big Bash League (BBL). South African leg-spinner Tahir, who claimed 236 wickets in 145 ODI and T20I matches - will be available after Christmas. His absence will be filled by Afghanistan left-armer Noor Ahmad. The BBL gets underway on December 3, with the Melbourne Renegades playing the Adelaide Strikers in the opening game of the tournament. This Big Bash news is BIG. India tour of Australia 2020

India have announced their squad for the upcoming tour of Australia to be played next month which includes four Tests, three one-day-internationals and three Twenty20s. It will be India's first international cricket tournament since the COVID-19 outbreak, while Australia have already played a limited-overs series in England during the summer. The limited over games will be played at the Sydney Cricket Ground and Canberra's Manuka Oval. SCG will also host a Test, alongside the Adelaide Oval, Melbourne Cricket Ground and the Gabba in Brisbane. The itinerary is yet to be finalised by BCCI. Report - Babar Azam to replace Azhar Ali as Pakistan Test captain

Pakistan limited-overs captain Babar Azam has emerged as the No.1 favourites to replace Azhar Ali as Test skipper, according to the reports by Cricket Pakistan. Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Ehsan Mani had a meeting with Azam about the leadership role. Mani reportedly assured the 26-year-old batsman that he would have “full authority as leading the Test team” besides already being the limited-overs captain. The wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Rizwan and opener Shan Masood are the other two contenders in the mix for the Test captaincy. The PCB will announce a final decision ahead of the tour to New Zealand later this year.

BBL 2020: Teams allowed to play three foreign players

Teams in the 10th edition of the Big Bash League will be able to field up to three overseas players in their final playing XI. The 30-year-old batsman Jason Roy became the sixth Englishman involved in the Twenty20 tournament when he signed for the three-time champions Perth Scorchers on Friday. The BBL gets underway on 3 December. The opening match will be played between Adelaide Strikers and Melbourne Renegades.

Mohammad Nabi returns to Melbourne Renegades for BBL|10

The Afghan international Mohammad Nabi will return to Melbourne Renegades on a one-year contract extension for the upcoming season of the KFC Big Bash League. Nabi, who is the No.1-ranked T20I allrounder will join the Renegades after his ongoing stint with Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League. “I have always enjoyed my time with the Renegades and testing myself against some of the best T20 players in the world in the Big Bash. I’m very pleased to have re-signed for a fourth season,” the 35-year-old said . Nabi has played 27 matches for the Renegades, averaging 30 with 21 wickets with the ball. Pakistan seamer Umar Gul retires at the age of 36

Pakistan pacer Umar Gul has announced his retirement from all forms of cricket. The 36-year-old bowler, who was the leading wicket-taker at both the 2007 and 2009 World Twenty20 tournaments, has played 47 Test matches, 130 ODIs and 60 T20I for Pakistan between 2003 and 2016. "It has been an honour to represent my club, city, province and country at various levels for two decades," said the seamer. "I have thoroughly enjoyed my cricket, which has taught me the values of hard work, respect, commitment and determination. IPL 2020: Eoin Morgan to lead Kolkata Knight Riders

The two-time IPL champions Kolkata Knight Riders have named Eoin Morgan as their new captain, replacing Dinesh Karthik, who faced huge criticism for his performance with the bat in the current season. The wicketkeeper-batsman has struggled to score much with the bat in the tournament so far. In a media statement , the franchise said Karthik "wishes to handover" the captainship to Morgan "with a view to focus on his batting and contributing more to the team's cause." The 34-year-old Irishman will lead the Knight for the rest of the campaign. The England World Cup winner re-joined KKR during the Indian Premier League auction last December. Australian pacer James Pattinson has joined Melbourne Renegades after signing a three-year contract. “I loved my time at the Renegades and I’m thrilled to be heading back to the club,” the 30-year-old said . “With a young family it’ll be nice to base ourselves at home in Melbourne all year round, although this season might look a little different. “I’m looking forward to forming a strong combination with the other bowlers and playing in front of the passionate Renegades fans at some point.” Pattinson is currently serving his IPL duty with Mumbai Indians. Yorkshire right​-arm spinner Jack Shutt has committed himself to the White Rose after signing a new one-year contract extension that will keep him at the club until at least the end of 2021. The 23-year-old all-rounder said: “I’m very pleased. I’ve played a little bit of first team cricket now and I feel like I’ve learnt a lot. BBL 2020: Alex Hales re-signs for Sydney Thunder

England international Alex Hales becomes the first overseas player to sign a new deal with Sydney Thunder for the Big Bash League. The Nottinghamshire batsman became the third Englishman to join the Australian professional franchise Twenty20 cricket league after Tom Banton of Brisbane Heat and Sydney Sixers's Tom Curran, with many other Brits are expected to join the trio. Hales was axed from the national team shortly before the 2019 World Cup for using recreational drugs and has not played since. Derbyshire's Ben Aitchison pens new two-year deal

Derbyshire pacer Ben Aitchison has committed his future to the club after signing a new two-year contract that promises to keep him at The IncoraTM County Ground until the 2022 season. Aitchison, 21, initially joined Derbyshire on a rookie contract for the 2020 campaign and established himself on his first-class debut against Nottinghamshire, with 3-55 in the second innings. The youngster said , “When I first joined the club, I talked about wanting to take any opportunities I was given, and I feel like I did well when I was selected this season. “I love the setup here, and get on really well with the lads, so It’s really nice to know I’ll be able to grow and develop with them over the next two seasons.” Aitchison claimed 47 wickets at an average of 12.23 in 17 matches for Macquarie University Cricket Club in Sydney. England likely to tour Pakistan in New Year

England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) is contemplating a short tour to Pakistan next year in January to play three T20Is According to reports, the England cricket team will be in the UAE and could make a brief tour to Pakistan for five days in the last week of January next year. Yorkshire spinner James Logan leaves Emerald Headingley

The Yorkshire CCC have released left-arm spinner James Logan following the end of his contract at Emerald Headingley. The 22-year-old, who made his debut against Worcestershire in 2018, has played just two first-class matches for the White Rose but was inactive in 2020. Logan said : “I’ve really enjoyed my time at Yorkshire and would like to thank all the coaches who have worked with me since I started at the age of 11, and the players who I’ve shared a dressing room with." IPL 2020: KKR's seamer Ali Khan ruled out of tournament

Kolkata Knight Riders fast bowler Ali Khan has been ruled out of the tournament after he suffered an injury. The 29-year-old Pakistan-born Ali, who was a replacement for left-arm pacer Harry Gurney, has now been ruled out of the ongoing Indian Premier League due to an injury.  Khan, who is the first player from the United States to land an IPL contract, has claimed 38 wickets in 36 T20 matches at an economy rate of 7.43. Afghan batsman Najeeb Tarakai passes away after road accident

Afghanistan top-order batsman Najeeb Tarakai has died from injuries he sustained in a road accident after being hit by a car in Jalalabad on Thursday. The 29-year-old was reportedly hit by a moving car last week while crossing a road. On Tuesday, he succumbed to his injuries, the Afghan Cricket Board (ACB) confirmed his death in a statement on Twitter. “ACB and Afghanistan Cricket Loving Nation mourns the heartbreaking and grievous loss of its aggressive opening batsman & a very fine human being Najeeb Tarakai (29) who lost his life to a tragic traffic accident leaving us all shocked,” the board said in a Twitter post.  Tarakai had played 12 T20Is and one ODI for the country. IPL 2020: Ben Stokes set to join Rajasthan Royals

England all-rounder Ben Stokes is set to feature in the Indian Premier League after Rajasthan Royals indicated the Englishman is on his way to the UAE from New Zealand. The 29-year-old posted a picture with his family on Instagram with a caption, "goodbyes never get easier". According to the IPL rules, Stokes will have to undergo a six-day quarantine after his arrival to the UAE. He is likely to be available for the match against Delhi Capitals in Dubai on 14 October.

Gloucestershire: Jack Taylor signs new contract until 2022 season

Gloucestershire's T20 skipper Jack Taylor has committed his future to the county after signing a new one-year contract that promises to keep him at Bristol until the end of the 2022 season. The 28-year-old allrounder, who made his first-class debut for Gloucestershire over a decade ago, has scored 5,458 runs in all formats while picking up 130 wickets. He scored 130 runs at an average of 26 so far this season. Jack becomes the second player to have penned a contract extension this week following Ian Cockbain, who also signed on a two-year extension deal.

Zimbabwe Cricket launches domestic league (NPL)

Zimbabwe Cricket has launched the National Premier League (NPL) featuring the top nine clubs.  The NPL is designed to revive domestic cricket structures and to identify emerging talent around the country. The Sports and Recreation Commission has given Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC) the green signal to have the domestic competition take place. The clubs are: Amakhosi Queens Takashinga Rainbow Gladiators Harare Kings Great Zimbabwe MidWest Easterns  US$10,000 will be the prize money of the tournament.
