Hobart Hurricanes have announced the signing of Tim Paine for the upcoming Big Bash League (BBL) season 10. The Australian Test skipper returns to BBL for the first time in three seasons. He was a member of the Canes inaugural squad back in 2011, and went on to lead the club from 2013 to 2017. The Perth Scorchers were named minor premiers once again after topping the ladder courtesy of a four-wicket victory over the Adelaide Strikers. It was the perfect way to say farewell to the WACA and it set up a tantalising semi-final clash with the Hobart Hurricanes. England Twenty20 opener Alex Hales has signed for Hobart Hurricanes in the 2014-15 Big Bash League season. Pakistan batsman Shoaib Malik , has signed Hobart Hurricanes for the upcoming season of the Big Bash League . This will be Malik's first stint even in the Australian T20 league. Damian Wright, the Hurricanes coach said, " He's an exciting player, a fast paced batsman who will likely bat in our middle order and he'll add another option to our bowling stocks as well, He is a quality player with a quality T20 record and his performances in the Caribbean Premier League suggest he's in red-hot form right now. " The 31-year-old Malik has played 134 Twenty20 matches with 3396 runs at a strike rate of 123.31. "Those are impressive stats for someone who has played so many games in a format where you often have to place little value on your wicket in search of quick runs at the end of an innings," Wright said.

Former New Zealand all-rounder Scott Styris has signed Hobart Hurricanes to play in Australia's Big Bash Twenty20. Styris said, " I'm enjoying my involvement in franchise T20 cricket around the world and have always enjoyed the challenge of playing in Australia against Australians. " The 37-year-old retired from international cricket last year after playing 29 Tests, 188 one-day internationals and 31 Twenty20 matches for New Zealand.

Former Australian skipper Ricky Ponting has re-signed the contract with the Hobart Hurricanes for the Twenty20 Big Bash League. The 37-year-old already retired from limited-overs cricket and he is still part of the Australia Test squad.
