New Zealand all-rounder James Neesham has decided to leave Wellington Firebirds after a four-year career. The 31-year-old is currently contracted with the Indian Premier League outfit Rajasthan Royals and Northamptonshire in the T20 Vitality Blast. I'm so proud to have been part of this team, said Neesham. He joined Wellington in 2018-19 and enjoyed an impressive success by winning four domestic trophies with them, contributing 503 runs in 12 matches with an average of 62.87 and also took 13 wickets. 

The Wellington Firebirds have announced the signing of former England international Samit Patel for the upcoming Twenty20 season. The 32-year-old, who was in impressive form for Nottinghamshire earlier this season, and named the Professional Cricketers' Association's player of the year after leading the Notts to success in all formats. Wellington head-coach Bruce Edgar pleased to Patel's quality. He said , "Our aim is simple: we're looking to play entertaining, positive cricket. As we saw last year, that recipe leads to success when it's well-executed." "For the upcoming campaign, we identified a need to complement our squad with a quality all-rounder. With a career featuring more than 200 T20 matches, including 18 internationals, and impressive strike rates with both bat and ball, we're excited to have Samit joining the team to fill that role." Bangladesh Left-hand batsman, Tamim Iqbal has signed up for Wellington Firebirds to play in HRV Cup. He will join the Wellington Firebirds after the series against West Indies. Jamie Siddons, the Wellington coach said, " We are excited to have signed Tamim to play in our T20 competition, He will be a great addition for the Firebirds. I chose him over the many other overseas candidates because I think he possesses the explosiveness that we need at the top of our batting order. Tamim is yet to take off as a T20 player but I have seen him enough to know that it is going to be very good when he gets it all together in this format. I want my team to benefit from this in our competition this year. "
