New Zealand batsman Jesse Ryder has joined the Big Bash League after signing with the Melbourne Renegades for the upcoming Australian summer.   Ryder, 29, has been granted leave from Otago cricket board, to play with Aussie Renegades . “Respect and appreciation to Otago cricket for their flexibility, ” Ryder said . “I’m stoked and grateful to be taking part in one of the best T20 competitions in the world. “The Renegades have some class players so I’m looking forward to contributing.” The left-hander averages 27.40 at a strike-rate of 145.90 in T20 format, he is currently playing for Essex in the English County Cricket and likely to be joining the Melbourne Renegades in mid-January for four matches and the finals.

New Zealand all-rounder Jesse Ryder has been banned for six months after failing a drug test in March. The 29-year-old underwent a routine drug test during a Ford Trophy match in March, for which he returned a positive test. Ryder was informed of the result on April 12 and attended a hearing in front of the Sports Tribunal of New Zealand earlier this month, where the ban was handed down. The batsman will not contest the decision of the tribunal.

All-rounder Andrew Ellis and Batsman Rob Nicol have been included in New Zealand's test squad against South Africa. Nicol and Ellis have both have yet to make a test debut. Jesse Ryder was ruled out of the squad because of his poor form. The first Test will be held at University Oval on March 7 in Dunedin. New Zealand have announced 14-man squad for three-match one-day international series against South Africa. James Franklin, Jesse Ryder and paceman Andy Mckay has been included in a 14 man squad starting on Saturday in Wellington followed by matches in Napier on February 29 and Auckland on March 3. New Zealand great batsman Jesse Ryder will miss Test match against Zimbabwe start from November 1. He is out due to his injury in the warm-up match in Bulawayo against Zimbabwe-A and hence confirmed the strain.
