George Bailey quits Australia's T20 captaincy

Cricket Australia have announced that Australian batsman George Bailey has quit the national Twenty20 captaincy in order to regain his Test place and to focus on the preparation of next year's World Cup.


The 32-year-old has also made himself unavailable for the upcoming tour of the UAE for T20’s against Pakistan and at home three T20s against South Africa in November.

The right-handed batsman announced his decision today in order to concentrate to improve his chances of playing more Test cricket.

The Tasmanian, who led the Aussie in 27 games and won 13. He has played 28 Twenty20s for his country, scoring 470 runs at 26.11 average.

However Bailey will be available to play for the Hobart Hurricanes as a skipper in the T20 Big Bash League and for Kings XI Punjab in IPL.

Aaron Finch is likely to replace Bailey for the Twenty20 captaincy, reports The Sydney Morning Herald.

IPL Spot-fixing, Sreesanth and 2 other Rajasthan Royals players held

Three Rajasthan Royals players, Sreesanth , Ajit Chandila and Ankeet Chavan were arrested on Thursday for their alleged involvement in spot-fixing in the Indian Premier League (IPL) season 6. The trio allegedly received upto Rs 60 lakh for conceding runs in a pre-determined over from bookies with possible Mumbai underworld links. The special cell of the Delhi Police arrested Sreesanth and his teammates — Ajit Chandila and Ankeet Chavan — in Mumbai early this morning for indulging in spot-fixing in at least three IPL matches on May 5, 9 and 15. Eleven bookies have also been arrested from Delhi, Mumbai and Ahmedabad. The police are on the look-out for two more bookies. A Delhi court has sent the three players and all bookies to five-day police custody. The players, who have been suspended by the BCCI, have been brought to Delhi and charged under Section 420 (cheating) and 120-B (criminal conspiracy).
