The third and latest edition of the Lanka Premier League is to get underway on December 6 in 2023. The T20 format competition will conclude on December 23. The opening game will be played between Jaffna Kings and Galle Gladiators. The tournament’s 1st round will have 20 matches and to be scheduled entirely in Hambantota before the tournament moves to Kandy and then Colombo. The final will take place on December 23 2022 at the RPICS in Colombo.

Sri Lankan top-order batsman Danushka Gunathilaka was charged over alleged sexual assault of raping a 29-year-old woman at Rose Bay in Sydney's eastern suburbs, where the woman lived.  Gunathilaka's Tinder profile included photos of his lavish lifestyle. The 31-year-old was arrested on Sunday after allegedly raping the woman after meeting her on Tinder during the T20 World Cup. 

Derbyshire have announced that wicketkeeper-batsman Brooke Guest has signed a two-year contract extension with the club, keeping him at The Incora County Ground until the 2025 season. The 25-year-old was ever-present for Derbyshire during the 2022 season, contributing more than 1,000 runs in all formats, as well as claiming 72 dismissals behind the wickets. Since his debut for Derbyshire in 2020, the right-handed batter has scored 2,177 runs, including five centuries and seven half-centuries. Sussex allrounder Delray Rawlins has extended his contract. The 25-year-old, who helped the Sharks reach the Royal London Cup semi-finals in 2022, has played 104 times for the club since his debut in 2017. "Obviously I have been here my entire professional career and I am looking forward to building on the good things we did this summer," the all-rounder said. "This year I worked on certain aspects of my game, and I am pleased with the progress made so hopefully I can go again next year and produce bigger numbers for the team." Rawlins has claimed 66 wickets and scored 2,653 runs across all formats. India have announced their squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2022, scheduled to take place in Australia. Jasprit Bumrah, Ravichandran Ashwin and Harshal Patel have been named to the 15-member squad. However, star all-rounder, Ravindra Jadeja has been ruled out of the squad due to his injured right knee.  Rishabh Pant, Dinesh Karthik and Arshdeep Singh have made it to India’s 15-member squad for the 20-over global showpiece event. Indian all-rounder Suresh Raina has announced his retirement from all formats of the game.  The 35-year-old, who last played for Chennai Super Kings in the 2021 IPL, ended his career with 5,615 runs in 226 ODIs and 1,605 runs in 78 T20I matches.  It has been an absolute honour to represent my country & state UP. The reigning champions Australia have announced their 15-man squad to retain the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup title. The 26-year-old hard-hitting batsman Tim David has been picked by the selectors for the upcoming T20 World Cup. New Zealand have announced their 15-member ODI squad for the upcoming three-match ODI series in Australia, starting September 6. The right-arm fast-medium bowler Matt Henry has returned to the squad after missing the West Indies tour due to a rib injury.  However, Kyle Jamieson and Adam Milne weren’t considered in the ODI setup due to their respective injuries. Pakistan will host 7 T20Is and 3 Test matches, starting from September 20.  Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) have confirmed the schedule for their three-match Test series against England in December.  The first test will begin in Rawalpindi on December 1 and then move to Multan for the second Test. The series will end with the third Test in Karachi. The test-match series will be the second leg of a tour that starts with a seven-match T20I series in September-October. Afghanistan have announced their squad for the Asia Cup, to be played on August 27 in the UAE .  The veteran all-rounder Mohammad Nabi will lead the side for Asia Cup 2022. Middle-order batsman Najibullah Zadran has been named vice-captain for the tournament.  Afghanistan, placed in Group B, will begin their campaign against Sri Lanka on August 27.
