Hashim Amla and CSA awards

South Africa great batsman Hashim Amla has been nominated for four Cricket South Africa (CSA) professional awards, to be announced here on July 3.


Amla has been nominated for:

  1. The Test Cricketer of the Year.
  2. The One-Day International (ODI) Cricketer of the Year.
  3. The 'KFC So Good' award which is for a single outstanding achievement.


These awards would cover the period from May 1, 2012 to April 30, 2013.

List of nominees are:

South African Cricketer of the Year: Hashim Amla, AB de Villiers, Faf du Plessis, Vernon Philander, Dale Steyn.

Test Cricketer of the Year: Hashim Amla, Vernon Philander, Dale Steyn.

One-Day International Cricketer of the Year: Hashim Amla, AB de Villiers, Ryan McLaren.

Twenty20 International Cricketer of the Year: Henry Davids, Robin Peterson, Dale Steyn.

KFC So Good Award: Hashim Amla, Vernon Philander, Dale Steyn.

Women's Cricketer of the Year: Shabnim Ismail, Marizanne Kapp, Dane van Niekerk.

IPL Spot-fixing, Sreesanth and 2 other Rajasthan Royals players held

Three Rajasthan Royals players, Sreesanth , Ajit Chandila and Ankeet Chavan were arrested on Thursday for their alleged involvement in spot-fixing in the Indian Premier League (IPL) season 6. The trio allegedly received upto Rs 60 lakh for conceding runs in a pre-determined over from bookies with possible Mumbai underworld links. The special cell of the Delhi Police arrested Sreesanth and his teammates — Ajit Chandila and Ankeet Chavan — in Mumbai early this morning for indulging in spot-fixing in at least three IPL matches on May 5, 9 and 15. Eleven bookies have also been arrested from Delhi, Mumbai and Ahmedabad. The police are on the look-out for two more bookies. A Delhi court has sent the three players and all bookies to five-day police custody. The players, who have been suspended by the BCCI, have been brought to Delhi and charged under Section 420 (cheating) and 120-B (criminal conspiracy).
