South Africa Squad against Australia Series


Johannesburg, Tuesday, October 4, 2011

Hashim Amla has been selected as the captain of the South African team in ODI and T20 series against Australia.

Amla got the team command due to the fractured finger injury of Captain AB de Villiers, that is not available for the entire series. Amla has been assigned captain for two Twenty20 and three ODI matches against Australia.


38-year-old Amla has so far played only three Twenty-20 internationals.

Wicketkeeper batsman Mark Boucher returns to the one-day squad, while 23-year-old batsman Richard levy is the only new face in the T20 squad.

Former captain Graeme Smith got placed in both formats ODI and T20. the beginning of the series will be held in Cape Town on October 13 with Twenty20 match.

Twenty20 squad: Hashim Amla (capt), Richard Levi, Graeme Smith, David Miller, Colin Ingram, Johan Botha, Heino Kuhn, JP Duminy, Morne Morkel, Albie Morkel, Robin Peterson, Juan Theron, Wayne Parnell and Lonwabo Tsotsobe.

One-day squad : Hashim Amla (capt), JP Duminy, Johan Botha, Francois du Plessis, Graeme Smith, Mark Boucher, Jacques Kallis, Morne Morkel, David Miller, Imran Tahir, Robin Peterson, Dale Steyn, Wayne Parnell and Lonwabo Tsotsobe.

IPL Spot-fixing, Sreesanth and 2 other Rajasthan Royals players held

Three Rajasthan Royals players, Sreesanth , Ajit Chandila and Ankeet Chavan were arrested on Thursday for their alleged involvement in spot-fixing in the Indian Premier League (IPL) season 6. The trio allegedly received upto Rs 60 lakh for conceding runs in a pre-determined over from bookies with possible Mumbai underworld links. The special cell of the Delhi Police arrested Sreesanth and his teammates — Ajit Chandila and Ankeet Chavan — in Mumbai early this morning for indulging in spot-fixing in at least three IPL matches on May 5, 9 and 15. Eleven bookies have also been arrested from Delhi, Mumbai and Ahmedabad. The police are on the look-out for two more bookies. A Delhi court has sent the three players and all bookies to five-day police custody. The players, who have been suspended by the BCCI, have been brought to Delhi and charged under Section 420 (cheating) and 120-B (criminal conspiracy).
