BBL: Afghanistan spinner Rashid Khan joins Adelaide Strikers

Adelaide Strikers have announced the signing of Afghanistan spin sensation Rashid Khan for the seventh edition of the Australia's domestic T20 Big Bash League.

Rashid becomes the first Afghan cricketer to be played in Australia's domestic T20 league and the second overseas player for Strikers.


"I am very happy to have signed with the Strikers for the BBL," the 18-year-old leg-spinner said. "It is a huge honour to be a part of such a great tournament and even more of an honour to be the first Afghanistan player to participate on the BBL stage. I look forward to linking up with my Strikers teammates and backroom staff."

The Right-arm leg break bowler had an impressive season in his maiden Indian Premier League for the Sunrisers Hyderabad, where he claimed 17 wickets.

Adelaide Strikers squad: Wes Agar, Alex Carey, Jono Dean, Ben Laughlin, Jake Lehmann, Michael Neser, Peter Siddle, Billy Stanlake, Jake Weatherald, Colin Ingram (overseas), Rashid Khan (overseas).

The BBL season 7 gets underway on December 20.
