The Mega IPL auction 2022

IPL auction 2022 will be a combat between 10 teams, it was 8 before but two new teams have been added to the competition. Lucknow and Ahmedabad will be the two new teams featuring in the IPL 2022. 10 teams will bid for their favourite players in the IPL auction 2022.

IPL auction 2022 is going to be held this month in February. 1214 players have registered their names for the mega auction comprising 896 Indian players and 318 overseas players. Every team will be provided with a salary package of Rs. 90 crore for the mega auction. 


The 8 franchises which have featured in the IPL over the years have been allowed to retain a maximum of 4 players, the teams have retained 27 players. Out of the four players allowed to retain, a franchise can retain a maximum of 3 domestic players and a maximum of 2 overseas players.

61 capped Indian players and 209 capped international players have signed up their names in the mega auction.

41 associate players and 143 uncapped Indians who were part of previous IPL seasons have registered their names for the auction. 6 uncapped international players who were part of previous IPL seasons are also going to be available for the mega auction.

692 uncapped Indians and 62 uncapped international players have signed up for the auction.

Among the overseas countries, 59 Australians have listed themselves for the mega auction which is the highest among all countries followed by South Africa(48) and then West Indies(41).

IPL 2023: Jason Roy joins Kolkata Knight Riders

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have announced the signing of England’s batsman Jason Roy for IPL 2023.  The 32-year-old had previously played for the team in the 2017 and 2018 seasons. The Knight Riders have acquired him for INR 2.8 crore, which is above his base price of INR 1.5 crore. KKR have lost two of their star players. Shreyas Iyer, who was meant to lead the team, has been sidelined from the tournament due to a lower back injury. Meanwhile, Shakib Al Hasan has pulled out due to personal reasons.  But in the midst of all this turmoil, KKR have made an exciting acquisition by bringing in Jason Roy. The right-handed batter is expected to make valuable contributions to his team in the upcoming fixtures.
