BBL 09: Sydney Sixers re-sign Steve Smith

The Sydney Sixers have announced the signing of the Australian star batsman Steve Smith for this summer’s Big Bash League, with the 30-year-old is expected to be available for the latter stages of the forthcoming season of Big Bash League.



Smith was a part of the Sydney-based outfit that won the inaugural cup back in 2011-12.

The world's No.1 Test batter has played 26 games for the Sixers. He said, “I am excited about getting an opportunity to play for the Sydney Sixers again.”

“When the schedule came out and I saw there was a chance to wear the Magenta again I jumped at the opportunity and look forward to joining up with the team after my January national team commitments have ended,” the right-handed batsman added.
The Sydney Sixers kick off their BBL campaign on December 18 against Perth Scorchers at the SCG.

Smith's first game is more likely to be against the Melbourne Stars at the SCG on January 20.
