Usman Khawaja called up for IPL 2016

Australian left-hander batsman will join Rising Pune Supergiants for the remainder of the Indian Premier League season following injuries to Kevin Pietersen and Faf du Plessis.

The new franchise turn to the 29-year-old batsman, who will be a part of the IPL for the first time.

Khawaja has scored 1006 runs in 15 international matches at an average of 62.87.


Supergiants coach Stephen Fleming said, "We are glad to have roped in Usman Khawaja in the team. His presence will definitely be an advantage to the team and could be pivotal in bolstering the position of the side in the tournament.”

Supergiants are currently find themselves third from bottom in their debut IPL season, winning just two games of their first six matches.

Stephen Fleming’s side ready to host league leaders Gujarat Lions in their next encounter on Friday (April 29).
