The former England all-rounder Kevin Pietersen has urged Alastair Cook to relinquish England's ODI captaincy following the team's eight-wicket defeat to Sri Lanka.
The Essex county player was appointed as 50-over skipper in 2011, who has contributed just 22 runs as the tourists were bowled out for 185 in Colombo.
As a result - The Three Lions have lost five of their previous six one-day internationals, which has provoked Pietersen urging the 29 year old to step down from the captaincy.
Pietersen tweeted:
Dear Alastair, if you care about England's chances this winter, pls resign and just concentrate on Test cricket...#getHalesin

Cook has been in his worst form throughout this year, scoring just one fifty in his last 18 ODI games.
