CLT20: Malinga chooses Mumbai Indians over Southern Express

Sri Lanka’s fast bowler Lasith Malinga has chosen to play for Indian Premier League side Mumbai Indians over his home team - the Southern Express at the Champions League T20, scheduled to be played in September.


According to a player’s contract, the individuals can choose which team they would want to represent in T20 tournament.

The 30-year-old has been part of the Mumbai Indians since 2009, has played 10 matches and took 16 wickets for the Mumbai Indians in the most recent season of Indian Premier League ‘season7’.

The CLT20 will be played in India, starting on September 7.

Sri Lanka have announced a 16-man squad for the one-day and Twenty20 matches against Australia. The one-day series will be held from from January 11-23 across Australia, and the two T20 internationals will be played in Sydney on January 26 and Melbourne on January 28.
