Australian Usman Khawaja joins Lancashire

The Pakistani-born Australia Test batsman Usman Khawaja has joined Lancashire as their overseas player until the end of the season, Lancs confirmed on their official website.

Khawaja, 27, likely to arrive at Old Trafford next week and will be available for all three forms of the game.

The left-hander previously played for Derbyshire in county cricket between 2011 and 2012.

"This is a great opportunity for me and a challenge I am really looking forward to getting stuck into," said the Aussie, who is expected to make his debut against Leicestershire on June 13.

Khawaja has scored 4979 runs at an 41.14 average in 78 first-class matches including 12 centuries.
