The all-rounder Darren Sammy has announced his retirement from Test cricket after he was replaced as West Indies captain by wicketkeeper Denesh Ramdin.
The 29-year-old Ramdin would replace Sammy as captain of the Test side ahead of the home series against New Zealand, beginning on June 8 in Jamaica, the WICB confirmed on their official website.
Ramdin has scored 2,235 runs in 56 Tests at an average of 27.25, along with four centuries.
However, the 30-year-old Sammy, who made his debut in 2007 against England at Old Trafford will remain as West Indies Twenty20 captain and will continue to be involved in the ODIs.
