Pattinson and Siddle sign for Melbourne Renegades

Australian Fast bowlers James Pattinson and Peter Siddle have signed Melbourne Renegades for the forthcoming season of the T20 Big Bash League.

"I want to get back into playing short-form cricket,"Siddle said. "To have that opportunity again in four over bursts, having a crack and getting the pace up there. I think it'll be a lot of fun."


Melbourne Renegades have also re-signed the former Sri Lankan legend Muttiah Muralitharan for one year and completed two-year deals with Pakistan-born legspinner Fawad Ahmed and Tasmanian batsman Alex Doolan.

The 34-year-old, Ahmed who has recently got Australian citizenship, clearing the way for a possible call-up to the Test squad for the Ashes.

"I worked really hard with the Renegades last season. It was a good six or seven weeks and they really helped me through BBL 2," Ahmed said. "I [then] got an opportunity with the (Victoria) Bushrangers and it really clicked. For me, I was nervous at one stage but it was a good summer."

Till now, the Renegades have signed 15 of 18 players for the BBL, with the final three places to be filled by December 6.

IPL Spot-fixing, Sreesanth and 2 other Rajasthan Royals players held

Three Rajasthan Royals players, Sreesanth , Ajit Chandila and Ankeet Chavan were arrested on Thursday for their alleged involvement in spot-fixing in the Indian Premier League (IPL) season 6. The trio allegedly received upto Rs 60 lakh for conceding runs in a pre-determined over from bookies with possible Mumbai underworld links. The special cell of the Delhi Police arrested Sreesanth and his teammates — Ajit Chandila and Ankeet Chavan — in Mumbai early this morning for indulging in spot-fixing in at least three IPL matches on May 5, 9 and 15. Eleven bookies have also been arrested from Delhi, Mumbai and Ahmedabad. The police are on the look-out for two more bookies. A Delhi court has sent the three players and all bookies to five-day police custody. The players, who have been suspended by the BCCI, have been brought to Delhi and charged under Section 420 (cheating) and 120-B (criminal conspiracy).
