Pakistan Cricket Board said Dav Whatmore, former World Cup winning Sri Lanka coach has been finalise his appointment as head coach of Pakistan team.
Pakistan team was without a full time coach since when Waqar Younis left the position of coach in September.
Subhan Ahmed, PCB chief operating officer said to local media "We are in the process of finalising the appointment and in this regard are in discussions with Whatmore".
Whatmore will reach Pakistan in second week of January, he added.
Mohsin Khan has been retained for next month series against England in the UAE as an interim coach.
