Left-handed opening batsman Gautam Gambhir earned a recall to the Indian Test squad for the series against England, starting this summer, while the veteran left-arm fast bowler Zaheer Khan was left out due to a hamstring injury.
Gambhir has been in an excellent form in this Ranji season and with his decent performance in the ongoing Indian Premier League has helped the 32-year-old to be included in an 18-man squad for the five-Test match series of England which starts in July.
The Kolkata Knight Riders skipper, Gambhir has scored 4,021 runs along with nine centuries in 54 Tests for his country.

India will arrive in England in the third week of June, will play two warm-up matches against the County clubs - Leicestershire and Derbyshire before the first Test starting at Trent Bridge on July 9.

India Squad: MS Dhoni (capt, wk), M Vijay, Shikhar Dhawan, Cheteshwar Pujara, Virat Kohli, Gautam Gambhir,  Ajinkya Rahane, R Ashwin, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Rohit Sharma, Ravindra Jadeja, Ishwar Pandey, Ishant Sharma, Mohammed Shami, Stuart Binny, Wriddhiman Saha, Varun Aaron, Pankaj Singh.
