Kumar Sangakkara joins Durham

The veteran Sri Lanka batsman Kumar Sangakkara has signed Durham on a short-term deal for the next two rounds of County Championship matches.
Sangakkara, 36, will play the upcoming LV=County Championship clash against Yorkshire and Sussex next month.
Following signing the contract with Durham, it will be Sangakkara's second stint in county cricket, who has represented Warwickshire in 2007.

"I'm really looking forward to returning to county cricket with Durham and I'm immensely grateful for the opportunity," the left-hander told the club's official website.

Sangakkara has scored more than 25,000 runs for his nation across all three formats.

Marvan Atapattu appointed Sri Lanka interim head coach

Former Sri Lankan skipper Marvan Atapattu has been appointed as interim head coach of Sri Lanka Cricket Team for the upcoming tour of Ireland & England and home series against South Africa.
Atapattu will replace Paul Farbrace, who gave his resignation earlier this week to become deputy of England’s new coach Peter Moores.
Former spinner and current fielding coach Ruwan Kalpage has been appointed as Atapattu’s assistant.

Atapattu, 43, played 90 Tests with an average of 39 and scored 5,502 runs along with 16 centuries for his country. He also played 268 one-day internationals, averaging 37.57 and scored 8,529 runs including 11 hundreds.

Sri Lanka will play England in two Test matches, five one-day internationals and one Twenty20 fixture during the tour.

Essex sign New Zealand batsman Jesse Ryder

Essex have signed New Zealand all-rounder Jesse Ryder as the Overseas player for the 2014 season.
The 29-year-old Otago batsman has played 48 one-day internationals, 18 Tests and 22 Twenty20s for the Black Caps.

Ryder expressed his excitement on his twitter account:
Ryder will be available from the beginning of May and represent the County Championship Division Two side in all formats this season.

Peter Moores appointed as England coach

The Lancashire chief Peter Moores has been confirmed as the new head coach of the England cricket team for the second time, England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) announced.

Moores joined Lancashire in February 2009, and guided Sussex to the County Championship title in 2003.

Moores gets excited to returns as England coach, said: "I am very excited about the prospect of returning to a role I have done before and to building a strong relationship with Alastair Cook and the rest of the players and staff. In any time of change there comes opportunity and this is one I can’t wait to get stuck into."

Moores, 51, was in charge of the national side for two years between 2007-09, but was sacked following a dispute with Kevin Pietersen.

Moores first match as a coach will be a ODI against Scotland on 9 May, before limited-overs and Test series against Sri Lanka, starting on 20th May.

New Zealand Test squad for tour of the West Indies

New Zealand wicketkeeper Luke Ronchi and offspinner Mark Craig has been included in a 15-man squad for the three-Test series against the West Indies, starting in June.
Ronchi, 32, has been a regular player of in Black Caps's limited-overs squads. However, it will be his first chance to secure a place in Test cricket.

New Zealand will play three tests and a couple of Twenty20 Internationals in the first week of July.

NZ vs. WI Schedule

June 8-12: First test, Jamaica
June 16-20: Second test, Trinidad
June 26: Third test, Guyana
July 5: First T20, Dominica
July 6: Second T20, Dominica

Indian Premier League 2014 Preview - 7th Edition

Indian Premier League is in its seventh season, which every Cricket fan loves the most. IPL season 7 is expected to be much more interesting with full of excitement among the fans and players, as the 1st leg of the IPL-7 is shifted in front of Emirates crowd, UAE.
The first match of the tournament will be played on 16th of this month, in which Last years’ champions Mumbai Indians will face Kolkata Knight Riders at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi.

IPL 2014 will be different than the previous editions as it would be played across two countries, the first leg to be played in UAE and the second leg in India. Despite changes in the venues, there’s no changes has been made to the format of the tournament.

Eight teams will be participating in the seventh edition of Indian Premier League. The teams along with their key players:

  4. Kings XI Punjab: Players to Watch out for: Virender Sehwag, David Miller and Mitchell Johnson.
  5. Kolkata Knight Riders: Players to Watch out for: Gautam Gambhir, Sunil Narine and Shakib Al Hasan.
  6. Sunrisers Hyderabad: Players to Watch out for: Dale Steyn, Darren Sammy and Shikhar Dhawan.
  7. Mumbai Indians: Players to Watch out for: Lasith Malinga, Michael Hussey and Zaheer Khan.
  8. Rajasthan Royals: Players to Watch out for: Shane Watson, Sanju Samson and Steve Smith.

Chennai Super Kings can win once again with good team work and of course Dhoni in command as they've shown us in every season. The current champions Mumbai Indians will fight to defend the title.
However, Royal Challengers Bangalore looks pretty good in batting and bowling department, seems to be the strongest contender of the title this year.

Brett Lee marries again

Former Australian pacer Brett Lee has married to his girlfriend Lana Anderson at his new home in Seaforth, according to DailyTelegraph.
The 37-year-old Lee ties the knot for second time, after he divorced to his first wife Elizabeth Kemp in 2008.

The report claims that the couple is believed to have moved in together at the end of last year.

Indian Premier League 7 Schedule (Second Leg - India) 2014

The second leg of the Indian Premier League season 7 schedule has been announced, 40 matches to be played in India, Starting from 2nd May 2014 at JSCA International Stadium, Ranchi.

English woman cricketer Danielle Wyatt has tweeted: “Kholi marry me”, following Kohli led India into the Finals of ICC World T20 2014.

The 22-year-old has played 32 ODI's and 50 T20 Internationals for England. Here is Wyatt's tweet:
Kohli played one of his stunning innings in a victory over South Africa on Friday. Kohli was unbeaten at 72.

Middlesex: Andrew Strauss joins executive board

Former England skipper Andrew Strauss has joined Middlesex County Cricket Club's executive board, the club's official website announced.

Strauss, 37, the Ex-batsman for the Middlesex replaces Paul Downton.

"We are absolutely thrilled that Andrew has accepted our invitation to join the board," Middlesex chairman Ian Lovett told.
"He is a Middlesex man through and through, with an outstanding reputation within the game.
"Finding the right man to replace Paul Downton was always going to prove a challenge. However, in Andrew Strauss, we've found the perfect solution."
Strauss played for the club for 14 years and made his first-class debut for Middlesex in 1998.
